Too much for one year of Davis.

I disagree, Davis is one of the most dominant relievers plus he's insanely cheap, imo the red sox could use another late inning stud, they could pay over 50 million for Jansen, Chapman or Melancon, or you can trade guys who won't have a big roll for Davis and more than likely a draft pick 2 drafts from now. Plus look who you have in the FO DD who loves to ruin farm systems.

I agree. too much for one year and their is no guarantee he will be as dominant next year.

The Cubs gave up a lot for half a year of Chapman, so your argument holds no merit.

Yea but Davis comes with health issues and showed that he was not as dominate this year as he was last. And I actually like the Cole trade, but do I think it will happen? No.

Batman, you of all people should know that you can't compare a trade deadline move to an offseason move.

This is true, but then again, look at what the Astros gave up for Giles last offseason. Though Giles is not as good or has the track record that Davis.

Yes that is correct but Giles is much younger.

Minnow, nothing is for sure but in my opinion when someone has been good for multiple seasons its a good bet they'll be good next year. Sull if you look at the royals, if Moose didn't get hurt, if Cain stayed healthy Davis probably wouldve been as dominant.

I just want to say this, the Royals are 100% in control, they don't have to settle, the fact that teams are already showing interest tells me there could be a bidding war which could mean a team giving up 3 really good prospects.

The Astros also bought 5 years of control for a really good reliever. Davis is not exactly cheap, and he's a free agent in 12 months.

I like the first three, the last two the "buying" team is giving up too much.

Jerk i disagree, going into next season without arb deals Davis will be the 6th highest closer, the guys ahead of him? Chapman, Kimbrel, Robertson, Jansen, Melancon. 3 of those guys will get raises, Chapman will go from 12M to 16-17M, Jansen will go from 10M to15-17M, and Melancon will go from 9M to 12-13M. Compared to those guys he's at least 3M cheaper.

$10M isn't cheap. He's one of the top 10 paid relief pitchers in baseball AND he has no team control remaining. His value drops when you consider those facts.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Royals will get a really, really good player for Wade Davis, but I'd be shocked if he gets 2-3 top 100 prospects in the offseason.

Mariners say no. They wouldn't even do Gohara + small prospect for Cozart + prospect before the deadline, and that was before Cozart started to slump, and got injured.

15.) 16 Oct 2016
16 Oct 2016 21:29:13
They couldn't do the deal because they ran out of time.

I just feel a team that misses out on chapman, jansen and melancon will overpay.
