ANGELS TIGERS TRADE

ANGELS GET
Cameron Maybin

TIGERS GET
Victor Alcantara

Not a bad way to start the offseason, probably the biggest issue they had was left field and it gets addressed immediately. Plus they gave up almost nothing for him, Victor got rocked in the pitcher friendly AA and who knows when he would be up, now the Angels can look to other issues, Second and pitching.

ANGELS LINEUP
(3B) Yunel Escobar
(LF) Cameron Maybin
(CF) Mike Trout
(DH) Albert Pujols
(RF) Kole Calhoun
(1B) CJ Cron
(SS) Andrelton Simmons
(2B) Jefry Marte? potential but who knows
(C ) Jett Bandy/ Carlos Perez

A lot to work on still but a step in the right direction. Wouldn't mind the Angels going and getting Justin Turner this offseason and move escobar for another piece.

Marte has yet to recorded an inning at second base at any professional level, it is comical that you suggest he would be considered for such a role.

I would switch Marte and Escobar's positions.

theJerk, he also didn't even record an out in left field last season but that didn't stop the Angels from moving him there, he's a natural 3B so a transition to 2B would be easier. And CubFan99 Escobar refusues to change positions, it was a struggle for the Nats to move him SS to 3B.

What makes you think that moving from 3B/ LF to second base is just something simple for them to do?

In fact, every scouting report I've read on him cites him as a mediocre 3B, which is likely why he was moved to the outfield. If he's mediocre at 3B, he's going to be devastatingly bad at 2B.

If you did look him up, he also wasn't great defensively in Left, so that why moving him from one infield spot to another would be a possibility, in a addition, Marte's batting average was much higher when he played 3B than in LF, did you happen to see that?

Your logic: he was bad at two of the easiest positions on the field, so let's try him at one of the hardest defensive positions.

There's an entire offseason ahead, it might not be a bad idea to try it out because it could be a cheap solution to a problem, that's all I'm suggest bud. His bat is good enough to ask the question of can he possibly do it.

How the eff does his bat have to do with his defensive capabilities? Seriously?

If the Angels value any propriety of advanced stats, they will keep Jefry Marte as far away from a long-term commitment at difficult defensive spots.

His bat matters because they need people who can hit! And second base is as of now our worst offensive position, plugging him there would help the cause majorly. I find it amazing you think a position change is impossible here, this is the beginning of the offseason.

No, what's amazing is you thinking that any player is just able to move over to any position.

If he can't play 3B or LF well, what makes you suddenly think he'll be serviceable at a much more challenging position?

His bat isn't SO GOOD that you have to find any way to get him on the field. But even if he were above average, offensively, his value cancels out because of how bad he would likely be defensively.

Players can't just play anywhere and there not be repercussions.

A transition from SS to 2nd is easier than SS to 3rd. So just play Escobar at 2nd and Marte at third if you love him so much. I could see them moving Escobar to 2nd and going out and signing someone like Valbena.

The Angels are in a lot of trouble. Other than Trout, they aren't much better than a AAA team.

Somewhere in the line-up they need to install another left handed bat, its to right handed heavy.
