McCutchen Trade Idea


Pirates get Brett Gardner, Jorge Mateo, Miguel Andujar, Chance Adams, Domingo Acevedo, and Blake Rutherford

Yankees get Andrew McCutchen



Yankees Reasons

1. The Yankees and Pirates have worked together on trades a lot in recent years.

2. The Yankees could use a hitter like McCutchen in their lineup because Gardner and Ellsbury are too similar.

3. They can move Ellsbury to LF to preserve his legs and his health over the course of his contract.

4. The only blue chip prospect they give up is Mateo who is blocked by Gregorius and Torres anyway.

5. This goes along with they're plan of getting younger because McCutchen is 3 years younger than Gardner and also doesn't deter from they're plan to spend big in the Harper and Machado Offseason because McCutchen isn't a long term commitment with just two years left on his deal.


Pirates Reasons

1. The Pirates move on from McCutchen and get good value for him while they still can before he continues declining and his contract expires in two years.

2. This allows the Pirates to move Marte to CF which they've been wanting to do and McCutchen is opposed to moving positions.

3. Gardner is a perfect stop gap in LF until Meadows is ready.

4. Having Gardner in LF and Marte in CF improves they're defense.

5. They get good prospects in return and could boast a future infield of Bell, Hanson, Mateo, and Andujar. Rutherford gives them another option as a small market team for when Marte is ready to make big money. Also Adams and Acevedo are two more quality young arms to add to Cole, Glashow, and Taillon.

bwright you either put to many prospects/ players in a trade or you don't put enough players/ prospects in a trade. that is why all your posts are horrible.

Where is Torres that's my real question? No way the Pirates trade Cutch without getting a teams top prospect along with other pieces as well.
