Rays Tigers trade

Rays get JD Martinez (Florida native)
Tigers get Steven Souza and Tim Beckham.

This is not as bad as some might say. JD is a free agent after this year, so his value is less. Take out Beckham and make it someone else - maybe a UT guy such as Nick Franklin or a bullpen piece such as Danny Farquahr - and it might could happen.

J. D. is the type of player they should be pursuing. Rays would have to give more, but I feel it would be worth the pursuit.

After reading what others said.

What about this

Tigers get:
SP/ RP Drew Smyly
IF Jake Cronenworth (24th TB pros. )
OF Steven Souza

Rays get:
SP Kyle Ryan or PTBNL (mid prospect)
OF Jd Martinez

This way the tigers get an emmidiate jd replacement plus a pitcher they once had and can revert him back to the bullpen and be the top choice as an emergency starter. Plus a IF prospect who is from Michigan and is effective and once was a reliever.

The rays get JD to help the low power hitting team and OF and a pitcher to be named which could be kyle ryan whos from florida and replace smyly who also can be in the bullpen and emergency starter.

I doubt the Rays deal a decent SP for one year of JD.
