Mets get: Jose Abreu 1B

White Sox get: Robert Gsellman RHP, Dominic Smith 1B (Mets #2, MLB #55), Desmond Lindsey OF (Mets #6)

Mets need a first basemen badly. White Sox continue to add to their plethora of prospects they've acquired this offseason. They also get Gsellman, a young starter with 6 years of control who showed great promise in his run in New York this past season.

What would the Mets then do with Lucas Duda? He's pretty solid.

The Mets already have a crowd in the OF with Cespedes, Grandy, Bruce, Conforto and Lagares. I guess you think they need more guys on the bench?

The Mets have their next first basemen on their team already but he just haven't made the move yet. Watch David Wright move over to 1B due to his on going back issues. If not this year then next year. He definitely can't keep throwing from 3B with that back problem he has.

Red Sox, I'd say Duda is about average right now. Him and Matt Adams are very similar in my mind. Bruce and Granderson will be gone at season's end, if not earlier. So that clears some room in the outfield jam. The team they have right now doesn't beat the Nationals.

It's nearly a guarantee that Wright will never play over 100 games in a season the rest of his career.

The question is: are the Mets willing to pay him?

He opted out of his contract in lieu of arbitration, and is set to be compensated very well. Do the Mets want to handcuff themselves to a guy set to make $10+ million over the next 3 arbitration cycles?

I think Tood Fraizer is a better fit for the Mets

Solid and average - pretty much the same thing

Yes, the Mets have a glut at some positions, and a scarcity at others. This might work if they would deal Conforto in the deal for Abreu.
