Rangers get: Shelby Miller, Phil Gosselin

Diamondbacks get: Jurickson Profar

High risk, high reward on both ends of the deal. Miller was very valuable last offseason. Besides 2016, he has been a solid mid-rotation starter the rest of his career. After a miserable season, the Dbacks look to get something in return for him.

The Rangers gamble that 2016 was a fluke and that he will bounce back to help their rotation. Profar isn't near as valuable now either after not delivering during his short time in the majors. The Dbacks gamble that Profar will wind up being the player people thought he'd be when he was a top prospect and help fill Segura's void.

Arizona gives Miller a chance to erase last year's ugliness. Rangers just signed Tyson Ross, anyways.

You can't write off Shelby just yet it's only been one bad season in his carreer.

Jet, I'm not writing him off at all. I think Profar is a pretty good get for him. Profar is still only 23, it's not like he is a total bust yet.

Red Sox, I can somewhat see your point with the Ross signing. But by all signs, he won't be ready to pitch until close to June. The Rangers are also counting on Andrew Cashner to be their #4, and he hasn't done anything the last 2 years in a pitcher friendly Petco.

Profar is the definition of bust, missed 2 whole years due to injuries, and hadn't been close to productive since.

He's had less than 600 MLB AB's and is only 23. Most prospects would just be getting ready for their first crack in the MLB.

Profar for Miller is fair. Both are young, and the stock for both is down.

Ross will be ready at some point this summer, we hope.

I don't think Texas does this right now because they will be counting on Profar. He is actually penciled in as the starter at 1B. They'll likely sign Napoli, but Profar will still get ABs this year, or be dealt later on.
