Looks like the Tigers are going to keep Kinsler....but they still should trade (anibal, pelfrey, lowe, jd and collins) for a batch of prospects...but we can trade Sanchez along with 2 low level prospects for bruce or granderson and a low level

We shouls look at a few free agents that are left and that can be cheap

(*)= minors deal

- SP Matt Harrison (*: 4/14 opt out)
He can be had for the vet mininum plus incentives as he was bought out from his contract that still ran thru 2017 (just like Saltalamacchia)

1 year $ (vet mininum + incentives)

- RP Luke Hochevar (*: 5/14 opt out)
He may have had a few down years but he wasnt long removed as a good RP and what better then having him against the royals

1 year $1.00 M (if in majors)

- C Matt Wieters
His market has been really slow and he may have to sign a 1 yr deal with an option to once again up his value and to keep him healthy more, he should try a different position (perhaps the OF...be like Gattis) and this could keep him healtht more and can up his trade value if he added another position to his playing in games and if this happens than the Tigers won't trade for Bruce.

1 year $7.50 M ($17.50 M vesting)

- IF Dustin Ackley (*)
Can be a valuable piece as he can hit better then Romine and just like romine, he can play nearly everywhere (1B/2B/3B/OF) and can be had on a minor league deal with a spring invite

- OF Drew Stubbs (*)
Another depth piece and be a decent 4th OF when injuries happen and can play all 3 OF spots. But he will have to earn his way as he won't get a spring invite. But does have a buyout on 5/14 if not on 40 man roster

- OF Desmond Jennings (*)
An OF who has a high ceiling but injuries have kept him from reaching that and he (just like Bourjos and Jackson) would have to sign a minors deal with a spring invite

1 year $2.00 M (if in majors)

All this amounts to nearly $12.50 million. All can help of some sort and can be cheap. By trading Pelfrey ($8.00 M), Lowe ($5.5 M) and JD Martinez ($11.75 M) would clear $25.25 M and take away my free agent signings....thatll leave about $12.75 M left...that should get us under the tax threshold and wed still have Sanchez and Kinsler and wed still be cometitive

The Tigers are stuck in that uncomfortable conundrum of being a mediocre team with a high payroll and neglected farm system.

Mets are trying to shed contracts and you trade it for the Sanchez contract?

Jetjet25

They have 4 SP set with the 5th perhaps being Wheeler but adding Sanchez for Bruce is like your getting Sanchez for $2.5 million

Plus a few little pieces will be added

So adding $2.5 million may not hurt as much for the Mets.

Redsox Guy. i hear ya. Dumbrowski ruined that and he's slowly doing that with your redsox (kimbrel trade, sale trade to name a few) . Moncada couldve replaced Pedroia at 2B in a few yrs

Ive always said that the way Sales delivery is, i see Tommy John in his future and trading Moncada would decrease the value of the trade

Im glad Dumbrowski is gone. Avila is smart so i hope he knows what he's doing by not doing much. plus he said the tigers won't go over the luxury tax next year

Players on expiring contracts can help the tigers get trade value if we aren't in it and if they are playing better (pelfrey, lowe, kinsler, jd, sanchez and even upton)

The Mets also have Robert Gsellmen and Seth Lugo who at the end of the year last year performed really well and proved they have what it takes. They don't want him, and they sure as hell don't need him.

Not sure Ackley and more so Hocheaver won't get a majors offer and Weiters would have signed already if he only wanted 7.5 million

You do realize that the Tigers will have to take on the majority of Sanchez's and Pelfrey's contracts just to convince anyone to take them?
