Not. Even. Close.

The reason I say that is because the Angels need pitching. I don't think any of these guys other than Sanchez really blow up anyone's skirt.

The Angels need a lot, they have don't have a good farm system at all.

It's a start, but many prospects need to be included as well, including pitching.

It would cost them both their young shortstops as well.

Not both, but one.

Sanchez, Glyber, Rutherford, Sheffield and maybe a lottery ticket like freicer perez?

Stop trying to trade for Mike Trout.

I mean the conversation is purely hypothetical. Best farm system in baseball and the best player in baseball. I don't think anyone is saying its likely to happen.

I think it is more realistic than some might think. Likely? No. But within the realm of possibility.

The Angels have Trout under contract for 2018-20 at just over $34 million per season. They are also hamstrung with Pujols' contract. Trading Trout - or possibly persuading a team such as the Yankees to take on both contracts - would free up a lot of cash.

The Yankees have a great farm system right now, so they have the guys to pull it off. Names such as Frazier and Torres and Mateo would get the Angels' attention.

Too, the Yankees are the premier franchise in MLB. They love to have perhaps the best player too, for both competition and marketing. Think Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra, Mantle, and Jeter. Remember the buzz always going on with guys such as Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield and Alex Rodriguez when they were brought aboard? Think about how big a splash it would make if Trout, a New Jersey kid, were to come to the Bronx.

@Longtime. Agreed that its a good match for sure but like you said, just don't think its likely.

Also @erichosmerfan, I sat next to his best at one of his first games (against the chisox) couldn't have been nicer guys. Love to root for that guy.

I understand the benefit to trading Trout, I don't see the reward in trading FOR him.

It's going to cost 1-2 elite young guys off the 40-man roster plus another 2-3 top prospects.

Trout is the best player, by far, in the game. But is adding him and creating huge holes in your lineup worth it? I vote no.

The marketing alone for a team such as the Yankees would make it plausible.

Too, you have to remember that the Yankees have the farm system to give up in exchange. then a big pocketbook to sign guys to fill in the gap.

The Angels are not going to be good this year. So, if they want a rebuild, or reboot, then they could deal Trout, save payroll, and bring in several young guys. Think a package of Gleyber Torres, Clint Frazier, Justus Sheffield, Chance Adams and Dellin Betances wouldn't get the Angels thinking about it?

One, mo, the Angels wouldn't accept that package for Trout. It would start with Sanchez + Bird, and then most of those guys.

Two, I never stated they wouldn't benefit from pulling the trigger. They would. Others wouldn't.

The Yankees would have to fill 3-5 pretty massive gaps in their organization. They do this while adding $25M on their payroll, so they'd have to add free agent talent and pay the luxury tax, or play with a sub-stellar roster behind Trout.

The question is, which is better: their lineup without Trout, or their lineup with Trout, but without Sanchez, Bird, Betances and others?

I think the Angels need players around Trout to provide offensive but to trade someone like Albert trade him for some prospects that they can use to build around Trout.

I don't think this late Pujols's career he will bring top prospects, or at least multiple ones. They can't get anyone around Trout, they need/ should begin to rebuild and they should trade Trout.
