To Toronto: Lorenzo Cain

To KC: Happ, Tellez

2 expiring contracts for each other's areas of need. Cain is better than happ, so tellez evens the trade

Happ, as in JA Happ, he's injured at the moment, and correct me if i'm wrong but that injury he has is usually a precursor for TJ surgery.

Why would jays do this?

Cain is a good player but he's a free agent after this year. Tellez will be the Jays future first baseman in almost everybody's eyes.

It looks like the Jays run is over so expect some trades for younger pieces this year not free agents.

The Jays are in win-now mode. They'll get Tulo, Donaldson and others back from the DL, then look to make a run.

Its also the first month of the season, so there is no reason to panic and run for the hills thinking the end is near for the blue jays.

I'm not sure it will get better. That team is incredibly poorly put together and has absolutely no depth. They built everything on players playing at the highest percentile last season.

If I'm Toronto, I start selling pieces by early June.

Since no one else pointed it out, Happ is not on an expiring contract. He's signed through 2018.
