Marlins would laugh the Giants right off the telephone if Denard Span was part of the deal. No way on earth we get Adam Frazier for Corey Gearrin and Bryce Johnson.

I don't think the Giants have enough assets to get Stanton.

How much money are the Marlins throwing in on that deal? To give up that much, it'd better be close to $100MM.

Look, no one is giving up a package of that magnitude for a guy who is making nearly $300MM.

Also, the Giants aren't giving Yunel Escobar that kind of money. They'd be better off giving their organizational guys a chance first.

Bosox, if the Giants offer up a controllable, MLB-ready 2B, an MLB-ready 3B, a 4th OF, and a close to MLB-ready OF (Reynolds), AND take on the entire deal, two things:

1. They'd be the dumbest organization in baseball. This is Brian Sabean we're talking about, not Dave Dombrowski. Sabean hates blockbuster deals like this.

2. They would easily outbid every other team, because literally no one will, or should, offer that much for Stanton and his gargantuan contract.

The Pirates trade is really really bad for Pittsburgh, they would laugh and hang up.

Actually, Gearrin had a way better year than I thought and I thought Johnson was someone else. That said I doubt SF would do that. And I'm not so sure the pirates would either, Frazier is a big part of that team and they're pretty high on cal Mitchell.
