Padres get Noah Syndergaard

Mets get JT Realmuto and Manny Margot

Marlins get Morejon, Luis Campusano, Eustery Ruiz, Michael Baez, and Jorge Ona.

So the Padres only have to give up Adrian Morejon and Many Margot as elite "prospects" to get Syndergaard? They'll have to give up a lot more.

At this point, I'm not sure Margot even starts ahead of Juan Lagares in CF.

according to mlb.com, morejon is 46th and baez is 57th overall, ruiz is 17th in the padres system, campusano is 24th, ona just recently dropped off the list, but all of them would be ranked much higher in the marlins system.

Margot is only 24 years old still with 4 years of control left and is a plus defender.

And Syndergaard still has 3 years of control, along with being a top 20 starting pitcher in baseball.

Margot isn't that good. He's a glove-first outfielder. wRC+ of 85 in over 1000 plate appearances in his career. You can find controllable glove-first OF on almost every team in the game right now. Margot has upside, but he's done nothing of note in two full seasons to earn value.

The rest of that package is okay.

But the Mets and Marlins aren't going to let the Padres get away with leeching on a deal of this magnitude, especially if they are getting Syndergaard out of it.

I agree with Stat. That's not nearly enough for the Padres to give up. Even with Andujar being a guy who shouldn't sniff the NL, I would rather him than Margot. A one in one out Syndergaard for Realmuto shouldn't be happening, and the other player (s) involved need to be good. Margot still has potential, but not to the same level as he did when Boston moved him to San Diego.
