LOL.

Rick Hahn just gave up Nick Madrigal for Craig Kimbrel.

Your Runner-Up Executive of the Year, everyone.

:) great return for the Cubs.

Of course you think the White Sox locking down maybe the most talented bullpen of all time is a bad deal. They have arguably the best 2 relief pitchers in baseball now. Hendriks AND Kimbrel is borderline unfair. If the Giants pulled this off, you would be praising Zaidi like no other.

Madrigal is a good player but 115ish wRC+ is his ceiling. He has a torn hamstring and can't help them this year, may not be 100% to start next year. With Rodon a FA after this year (A Boras client FWIW), this is the year to go all in. You can keep Kimbrel for next year if you want to as well.

Pretty fair deal for both sides.

The demand for RP was high and Kimbrel’s value again like stated before is at an all time high. Someone was going to pay the price it was just a matter of who would be the highest bidder. Sox won the bid and Cubs made out great.

"If the Giants pulled this off, you would be praising Zaidi like no other. "

No, I wouldn't. I didn't want the Giants depleting the upper echelon of their farm system for rental talent. If Zaidi traded someone like Joey Bart or Heliot Ramos for Craig Kimbrel, I'd be vehemently critical.

I knew, based firmly on comments he made that Zaidi wouldn't do something this laughably foolish.

5.) 31 Jul 2021
31 Jul 2021 04:01:24
He didn’t trade anyone in their farm tho. He traded someone who literally can’t help them this year at all. If Madrigal is part of the farm, then you could say they kept Robert, Vaughn and Kopech all while getting the best reliever in baseball.

Madrigal’s production is easily replaceable.

Acting like this doesn’t give the White Sox an absolutely filthy bullpen, i. e. what wins in October, for the next 2 seasons, is ridiculous. But you will continue to do you.

"He didn’t trade anyone in their farm tho"

Right. Because Rick Hahn legitimately could not top level talent with his farm system LOLOLOL. He HAD to trade Madrigal to get Kimbrel.

I haven't "acted" like this doesn't give the White Sox a great bullpen. It does. I'm literally saying that it's not worth the price LOL. Seriously, I know reading comprehension is difficult for you, but at least make an effort to not make bad faith arguemnts.

I'm simply saying that Rick Hahn VASTLY overpaid here. But I'm not surprised. Rick Hahn really, really, really needs his team to win more than 1 playoff game in 2021.

And again, if we've seen how they play against playoff caliber teams, I'm not sure that's as safe a bet as you think it may be.

7.) 31 Jul 2021
31 Jul 2021 16:33:18
Again, Madrigal’s production is easily replaceable. Cesar Hernandez, who they just acquired for a 35+ pitcher, will certainly outperform Madrigal this year and may do the same next year.

LA was reportedly offering Pepiot and Miller. Madrigal, who literally has a torn hamstring right now, plus Heuer is not a vast overpay.

Crochet to Bummer to Kopech to Kimbrel to Hendriks is one of the biggest advantages any team has in the playoffs, and that’s for another 2 seasons. Oh, I forgot Tepera. That is absolutely lethal. It is 100% worth the price of an injured high floor singles hitting second baseman who is not an elite defender.

JJ Cooper had a great thread on Twitter about it. You make this trade 10/ 10 times to try and go win the whole damn thing.

Funny think is, the Giants don’t have a single reliever as talented as the Sox top 6. That is crazy.

LOLOLOL

You went from citing Madrigal as a reason the White Sox are stacked to making him some useless garbage player in 6 months.

Pretty amazing what you’ll say to conveniently try and sound right.

Also, the Giants, who apparently don’t have anywhere near as talented of relievers, continue on with baseball’s best record. That’s in a division with the Dodgers and Padres.

Trust me, the Giants are perfectly content with Tyler Rogers and Jake McGee. So, congratulations on winning the Craig Kimbrel sweepstakes. I’m sure it’ll take the sting out of that first round playoff exit!

He isn’t useless garbage. Never said that. Kimbrel is just a more integral piece to their winning now for the next 2 seasons. You trade good pieces to get good pieces. Madrigal was a reason why they were good, and Kimbrel is a good reason as to why they’re now even better.

You saying this is a bad move quite clearly proves that you don’t really get how this all works.

If the Giants are perfectly content with McGee and Rogers, then maybe I shouldn’t be the one worrying about a first round exit.

"Cesar Hernandez, who they just acquired for a 35+ pitcher, will certainly outperform Madrigal this year and may do the same next year. "

Yes, the 31-year-old 2B, who you just got for an unrated prospect and is hitting .237 and 101 wRC+ will be "certainly outperform" Madrigal next year. But hey guys, Madrigal isn't total garbage. I never said any of that. I just completely, totally implied it with my comments!

Not only are you a massively hilarious White Sox homer, you're also completely willing to cast off any guy that is no longer convenient to them. Madrigal was SOOOOO good for them. But now, he's potentially worse than Cesar Hernandez?

11.) 02 Aug 2021
02 Aug 2021 18:31:24
Jake McGee just got NL Reliever of the Month, a month in which 54% of his innings were against the Dodgers and Astros.

He gave up zero runs against those teams. In fact, he's allowed just 2 runs since the beginning of June, neither of them earned. (Both came as a result of the awful extra innings, extra runner rule. )

The dude is insanely good. You can count on one (1) finger the amount of earned runs he's given up to playoff caliber teams. That run, by the way, was back on May 30th, coincidentally, it was the last earned run he's given up all season.

Seriously tho. All of these stats are readily available and easy to find. As is the fact that the Giants just went 7-3 against the Dodgers and Astros this month.

Trust me, the Giants aren't worried, at all, about Jake McGee or Tyler Rogers in big moments.

How are you so bad at this?

Reading not your top subject here, bud? Slow down kiddo. I said certainly outperform this season when Madrigal is on the shelf, and MAYBE next year. I wouldn't count on it, but it's possible. The Sox could also just grab another second baseman too i. e. Chris Taylor, Semien, Escobar, etc.

I'm glad Jake McGee is all the Giants need in the playoffs. I'm sorry to say, but they probably have the worst bullpen of playoff caliber teams. That'll be tough come October.

Again the White Sox have literally six relievers as good or better than Rogers and McGee. LMAO. SIX!

"Again the White Sox have literally six relievers as good or better than Rogers and McGee. LMAO. SIX! "

Hey, you know, when the Giants actually win a playoff series in October, and you're watching the Astros and the Rays in the ALCS, you can sit back and think about all the great relievers the White Sox have!

Maybe the MLB will grant a trophy to Rick Hahn for his excellent bullpen. After all, that's so, so much better

Maybe, just maybe, that bullpen will help Ol' Ricky finish runner-up again in the MLB GM of the Year awards. Behind Farhan Zaidi.

"The Sox could also just grab another second baseman too i. e. Chris Taylor, Semien, Escobar, etc. "

My guess, they'll ignore all the excellent options, and give 8M to have Adam Eaton play 2B.

What an excellent, excellent free agent signing by Ricky Hahn (Another one I called, FYI) LOL.

15.) 03 Aug 2021
03 Aug 2021 14:02:55
Right, you'll focus on the one bad move he had while ignoring the acquisitions of 2 AL Cy Young candidates last offseason along with a string of solid minor moves that have kept them 18 games above .500 despite the most WAR lost by injury in the AL i. e. the kind of stuff that only our lord and savior Farhan Zaidi gets credit for in your book.

Careful Nate! Saying that the White Sox will lose to the Rays or Astros in the playoffs is currently an "unconfirmed take", so you can't be so certain. Again, it's nice to see how hard you're rooting against them.

The Giants also still have to get to a playoff SERIES. Would be a shame for a nice season's work to go down the drain after a one game playoff. But they'll fine, I mean, the Dodgers and Padres don't have anyone that can touch Jake McGee so they're in the clear.

"Careful Nate! Saying that the White Sox will lose to the Rays or Astros in the playoffs is currently an "unconfirmed take", so you can't be so certain. "

No, it's called a "prediction".

Are you seriously this dense? Or just desperate? Or is it both? I'm going with both.

"The Giants also still have to get to a playoff SERIES. I mean, the Dodgers and Padres don't have anyone that can touch Jake McGee so they're in the clear. "

Seeing as, combined, they have 3 total hits, 1 ER, and 11 Ks in 10 IP against him, this is probably true.

18.) 04 Aug 2021
04 Aug 2021 02:48:59
I’m “dense” when I use literally the exact same phrase you used. You see how idiotic you look on here on a daily basis, Nate?

Others have noticed. Maybe it’s time for you to come around too and drop the unnecessary arrogance.

19.) 04 Aug 2021

Hey, Yvette, let's ask this doozy: which team would you predict in the playoffs?

Versus teams with .500 records or better:
Team #1: 22-26, -8 Run Differential

Team #2: 30-23, +31 Run Differential

Now, those numbers will fluctuate as certain teams teeter around .500. A few of those teams: Cardinals, Angels, Indians, Phillies. (Braves too, but neither team has played them yet) .

Let's say those 4 all are AT or ABOVE .500 at year's end. We update with the Angels (both have played them) :

Team #1: 23-29, -10 RDiff
Team #2: 33-24, +40 RDiff

Now, final update, we remove all 4, thus, removing all the "fringe teams" and focusing on teams far more likely to make the playoffs

Team #1: 13-19, -19 RDiff
Team #2: 24-17, +21 RDiff

Obviously, both teams take a hit without those "fringe" teams to beat up on, but it's still noticeably clear: Team #2 would be the clearer bet, right now, to go further in the playoffs against playoff caliber teams.

Now, since you need the help, Team #1 is the White Sox. Team #2 is the Giants. I figured that may be difficult for you to identify them as such.

If you were a betting man, and you saw that information, you wouldn't be projecting a first round exit for the Giants. Like, ever.

In fact, you're only doing so because it's the Giants. And that's literally it. I'm basing my prediction on the fact that, to date, the White Sox are actually a bad baseball team when playing good baseball teams. The Giants, who went 7-3 recently against the Dodgers and Astros, are not a bad baseball team against good baseball teams.

Again, this is called a "prediction". Not an "unconfirmed take". It can't be confirmed yet, because it's impossible to speed up time. My prediction will be confirmed in a couple of months. And I'd wager that mine will be correct.

See how that works?

20.) 04 Aug 2021
04 Aug 2021 18:19:49
No, you're dense because you can't understand the difference between an "unconfirmed take" (like knowing what Trevor Story was offered) and a prediction.

Just like Jose Abreu against a good baseball team, you failed to come through.

I'm not surprised.

21.) 05 Aug 2021

Show me where I predicted the Giants to lose in the first round of the playoffs. I'm just acknowledging that their bullpen could end up being their downfall, as it's probably the worst among likely playoff teams.

Even I wanted to make that kind of prediction, the Giants may still have to win their way into the divisional series.

Also, do records against .500 or better teams in the regular season have any correlation to playoff success historically? Genuinely curious.
