With McCarthy getting hurt and Greinke likely opting out, thus becoming a Free Agent, if I'm the Dodgers, I'm going after Hamels.

Dodgers get: Hamels
Phillies get: Seager

It seems bold. but LA has too much invested into their team and been in too long a drought to not make a deal.

1.) 28 Apr 2015
Well, I'm certain the Phillies would want more than Seager, its a nice start.

2.) 29 Apr 2015
If the phillies try to get more than Hamels, it's proof that their front office is delusional.

Why would that make them delusional? Hamels is easily the most sought after trade piece in all of baseball and has a controllable contract.

And if they are willing to eat a portion of his contract, that will only make the return for him BETTER.

I agree with Batman, Seager might not be the only piece to move in this deal.

Dodgers aren't trading seager Pedersen or urias no matter what, so what about this
Dodgers trade: Grant Holmes RHP, Chris Anderson RHP, Chris Reed LHP, Darnell Sweeny 2b/ss, PTBNL
Phillies trade: Hamels
May not be the best prospects but the Phillies get 3 possible starters, a future second baseman with plus speed and hits a lot of extra bases and a PTBNL

Hamels is great, but is no where near as valuable as you think. Is much ether have Seager, who looks to be an above average player at least, at the league minimum(and the still relatively cheap arb prices) for six years than Hamels at $20MM for four, and it's not really close.

6.) 30 Apr 2015
^^^It depends on the need. If I'm a pitcher away from being a huge contender in the postseason, Hamels has significantly more value than Seager.

My rationale for this trade was that the Dodgers have way too much invested in this team and really have a few more chances with this team before the door closes and they are stuck with a ton of over-paid old players.

Greinke is likely gone after 2015. Kendrick is likely gone (and Guerrero is not a solid back-up. his value is diminished by his poor defense). Rollins is gone. McCarthy is out 12-18 months. Ryu can't stay healthy.

The door is closing every passing day for LA. The Hamels trade would allow them to be competitive for one more run. think of Kershaw, Greinke, Hamels in the playoffs.

That doesn't come cheap, however. There's pretty much zero chance a team lands Hamels without giving up a top 20 overall prospect for him.

^while the dodgers have a lot of older guys their door to win a world series isn't close to closing, when you have 2 young outfielders a up and coming SS, a good young catcher, the best player in the game Kershaw, multiple young pitching prospects, and all the money in the world its really just starting

8.) 01 May 2015
Kershaw is the best pitcher in the game not player, Trout is the best player in the game.

I may be biased to Kershaw because I'm a Dodgers fan but its not like the only thing he does is pitch. He can hit, field as well. I'm not talking like fielding a grounder I'm talking he can make a diving catch if need be, he has some pop, to me that makes him more than just a pitcher,

10.) 02 May 2015
Yea you are being biased.

Clark, Kershaw is an amazing pitcher. Let's leave it at that.

Kershaw isn't even a top 30 hitting pitcher from 2012-2014 per Fangraphs. And he's a top 25 pitcher Fielding in that same span.

Anytime guys start talking about a pitcher's bat or fielding and acts like it adds to their value, I'll almost always stop listening, because it's nonsense.
