Let's be clear here David Price is a ftee agent after this year with detroit not having the cash to sign him. They are an aging power house in need of youth. They can't let Max Scherzer happen all over again. So:

Cubs gets: David Price (resigns in off season 5 years 120mil), Joakim Soria

Detroit gets: Javier Baez (opens 2016 starter at 2b), CJ Edwards (opens 2016 as clubs number 3 starter), Billy Mckinney (opens 2016 in LF voided by cespedis), Travis Wood (takes prices rotation spot rest of season and is #5 starter 2016), Pedro strop

This is way more value then most teams can give and is very worth it. Hopefully the cubs will now be a contender for years.

I think Price's contract will be for significantly more than $120M.

There's no way dodgers get any of them without including seager. Oakland had to give up its number one prospect in Russell to rent samarja last year why would this year be any less

baez won't start at 2nd thas kinsler job

I posted the same trade a few days back. I left out Stroop and Wood though because I don't think DET wants them and it would be too much in terms of 5 to 1.

Price is going to get nearly $30M AAV this offseason. It'll be tough to get Jordan Zimmermann on a 5/$120 bargain.

Price will get a 7 year deal in the 25-30 mil a year range. The problem I have with your reasoning why it works with these prospects. Edwards has been a reliever this year, could he start next sure, but right now he seems to be a reliever. McKinney is projected to be ready in 2017, not 2016 so how can he start in place of Cespedes next year. How can Baez start at second for the Tigers next when they will still have Kinsler? And there is no reason for Strop and Wood to be in this trade.

This trade doesn't make any sense.
