Curve Ball prediction:
Jason Hayward signs with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Why? Bc the phillies will most certainly buyout their 3 remaining vet contracts in the next 2 season (ruiz howard and harrison) so they have the space to sign heyward to a deal he can't refuse. at 26, and having him locked down for the foreseeable future, he can become that leader to a young team that has potential to compete in 2 seasons.

I'm guessing heyward wants to play for a team that can compete for all years and not sign to a team that is in a total rebuild, makes 0 sense whatsoever.

I could see Heyward going to the Phillies. Makes sense for both sides. Gives phillies fans something to go to the ballpark. If not him I could see parra signing a 4/60 deal, he's just 28 so still relatively young.

Lemme guess. you're a philly fan. that's a good prediction but I think that they'll go for those big names next year. Guys like strasburg become FA's next year and i'm sure philly will sign at least two of them to be complementary pieces to Nola, Williams, e, t, tc.

Why would Jason Heyward waste 2-3 years of his prime in Philadelphia?

i don't think he'd be wasting it he'd be the face of the franchise for one, and I believe the Phillies will be sneaky good this year and will contend next year so he would really only be wasting 1 year of his prime. Believe Parra is a much better fit though and more realistic.

I will be absolutely floored if the Phillies are good within the next year or two.

They'll be good, but likely not until their top young prospects are ready.

Heyward is going to look at all options, but one thing will be for sure, he will sign with a team that will win now. I doubt he's going to sign with a team that is still a couple of years away from being respectable again.
