D-Backs

Sign Mike Leake 4 years $44 million (asking 5-75 now)

Mike Leake will reportedly take "much less" (according to Ken Rosenthal) to sign with the D-Backs. He lives in Arizona so it makes sense. If they're able to sign him they would have room to move a pitcher for another bat or bullpen help.

They're also trying to land Brandon Phillips from Cincy (according to Ken Rosenthal) . They had spoke of a Hill-for-Phillips swap earlier in the year and I think it would benefit both teams. Phillips is owed $27 million over the next two years while Hill only has 1 year left on his deal.

C- Wellington Castillo

2B- Brandon Phillips
3B- Jake Lamb
SS- Nick Ahmed
LF- David Peralta
CF- AJ Pollock
RF- Yasmany Tomas

SP- Zach Greinke
SP- Shelby Miller
SP- Patrick Corbin
SP- Mike Leake
SP- Robbie Ray.

I still don't think he would take that much less when he can go back to SF for his full asking price.

And if that is the case I think they would need to trade a starter and one of their long relievers to someone for a middle of the pen guys and a right fielder to move Thomas back to the bench so he has some more time to develope.

SF fan. He obviously doesn't care about money if he is willing to take less to stay local.

Crazysull I agree, that's why i said if they sign him they can move an arm for bullpen help, or another bat. Tomas is decent, but they will need someone to spell him.

"Much less money" usually doesn't mean $31M less.

$4 million a year less. It would be in line with a "hometown discount"

My question is Where is Rubby De La Rosa.

He would either be traded, or fight with Ray for the 5th spot. Loser could be a valuable long reliever or trade piece.

He didn't say much less, just less.

AJ, it's not just $4m a year less. It's $4m a year less, plus an extra $15m left on the table.

Ruby will be a right handed option out of the pen. I think Archie Bradley will be #5 and Robbie ray may be a lefty from the pen (they only have 1 lefty Andrew chafin) . Tomas will be a regular this season. Dbacks have plenty of young infielders IDK why they'd pick up another 15$ M to pay Phillips when Pollock is going to sign a big deal next year. I'm guessing the dbacks trade the rangers for a closer type and let Ziegler get them out of some late inning Jams with those ground out's. Chase Anderson and some to Texas.
