Buster Olney reporting that Braves feel they match up best with Padres for J Upton, with SD having the #6 Farm system right now. Could this deal work?

Padres acquire J Upton and E Gattis
Braves get SP Kennedy, OF Veneble, RP Torres and SP Jesse Hahn and Matt Wisler

88VTMariners

1.) Then the Braves trade Jesse to either new York teams or Boston so he can play close to home! Sorry went to school with him and want to see him pitch closer

2.) 10 Dec 2014 17:51:47
Padres would be giving up way too much in that deal.

3.) I don't see Atlanta dealing both hitters. Take away one of them and cut the haul from SD in half, and perhaps.

Mariners trade Taijuan Walker, Brad Miller to LA Dodgers for Joc Pederson and Andre Ethier (LA pays $10M of $53.5M remaining salary)

LA gets young, controllable SS,adds a quality young, controllable SP and no longer focuses on trading their best hitter, Matt Kemp. They remain the favorites in their division, with the best rotation in baseball.

Seattle gets a good, durable professional hitter to man RF at a fair market contract and a prospect who, even in Safeco, should be a plus hitter going forward, taking over CF in 2016 when Austin Jackson walks.

LA doesn't need more middle infielders.
They already have Gordon, Turner, Arruebarruena, Guerrero, Rojas, and then this nobody named Corey Seager waiting in the wings.

Brad Miller's value isn't that high as it is.

2.) Seager is said to be ready no earlier than 2016
Arruebarruena is all glove, no stick.
Rojas is not a starting SS
Guerrero was signed as a SS, but transitioned to 2b (he is seen as an average fielder there, but worse at SS)
Gordon and Turner are 2b.

Again, it's about solving the position only until Seager is ready, and Miller would make a good stop-gap option, he can also play other IF and even OF spots once Seager comes up, giving the team flexibility

3.) Miller is a throw-in on this deal. You could easily take him out and still get it done.

4.) How about Walker that was in the trade, come natedub comment on the whole trade, not just one player.

5.) 09 Dec 2014 04:21:52
One player can kill the entire trade. Besides, I'm not sure if the Dodgers are interested in lateral trades (Walker for Pederson is a lateral trade)

ESPN's Buster Olney reporting the Reds are a good fit for a J Upton trade, but don't match up well with the Braves without a third team. Rays GM admits that the team will have a lower payroll in 2015, and they are looking at dealing from their outfield depth.
Three way deal, with the Braves acquiring David Dejesus, Matt Moore and Ben Zobrist from the Rays and Tony Cingrani from the Reds, Upton to the Reds and Tampa getting Gattis from Atlanta and prospect P Nick Travieso from the Reds

88VTMariners

1.) 08 Dec 2014 05:46:42
Rays won't part with Zobrist.

2.) Why would the aye trade Moore he's still rehabbing from tommy John and and they would want more for zobrist

3.) Braves are getting way too much. Upton only has one year left on his contract.

4.) Wow. So, for Evan Gattis, Atlanta would receive Ben Zobrist, Matt Moore and David DeJesus?

I don't think so.

5.) Or Matt Moore--Braves get so much while Rays are jewed

Royals still have their core group in place to be successful through at least 2016-2017, but still have two needs-- (1) SP, (1) RF or DH, preferably RH with pop. They appear to have about $20M left in payroll budget. They trade prospects SP Sean Manaera, SS Raul Mondesi and SP Miguel Almonte to LA Dodgers for OF Matt Kemp and $60M. They plug him into RF, paying him the remaining $47M over 5yrs, with a spot anywhere 3-4-5. This leaves them with $10M to find a SP, of which there are a number of 2nd and 3rd tier pitchers on the FA market. DH can be added in the same way, sign or acquire a player to take the majority of AB's, or a rotation where Dyson gets more time in the field.

88VTMariners

1.) I don't think this will happen. Very little chance.

2.) Admittedly, it's a lot of salary that LA would be kicking in to move the player they probably should not consider moving, based on last season's production. but those are some very good prospects to reel in, particularly Manaera in the short term, but especially Mondesi in the long term ( and you got to appreciate the family connection). For KC, a healthy Kemp would be a big boost to that offense of speedsters and 15 HR types.

Mariners acquire J Upton from the Braves for Austin Jackson, Danny Hultzen , Tyler Pike and Danny Farquhar

88VTMariners

1.) Could be. Fills needs for both teams.

2.) All that for a year of Upton, not sure about this one. Ged

3.) 01 Dec 2014 16:14:17
Braves say yes and laugh the entire time.

While a healthy Craig is an attractive trade piece, there is no way the M's make this deal with him "as is". Boston could trade Nava or Betts right now for good value, but not Craig or Victorino until they each prove they're healthy. That being said, I'd rather see Seattle acquire Victorino. Yes, his salary is higher, but he's a better bounce back candidate, a better defender in right, and with speed, some pop, and a low strike out rate, would fit in well at #2 between Jackson and Cano.

Nope, and it's not even close. Castro is an All-Star SS who often bats cleanup for the Cubbies, signed for the next 5 seasons for less than $9M a season. Edwards, 23, is 14-7 with a 1.86 ERA in 50 Minor League games (49 starts) over the last three seasons. He has 294 strikeouts over 237 innings and has given up two home runs in that stretch. He's the top-rated pitcher on MLB.com's top 20 Cubs prospects. For a one season above-average SP and a utility player? C'mon, Son.

Actually, the deal wouldn't be as bad as you think.Any deal where Atlanta sheds BJ Upton is expected to include some cash, this offer probably would not include as much, because on his own Justin would bring more than Dustin and Austin, presumably. So perhaps $10M. BJ would still have a contract of 3yr/$35M. Well worth it if he was the player he was in Tampa (not mediocre, by the way, with a career line of .255-.336.-422 with 18 HR and 35 SB). I have faith Lloyd and HoJo could get him at least 10% better than Greg Walker got him. What would that look like compared to 2014? A line of .229-.316-.366 with 13 HR and 22 SB. The BA would have been 12th on the team, OBP 6th, SLG 9th, HR 4th, SB 2nd. He also projects to have lead the team in BB's, while finishing 2nd in whiffs. When you compare him to what the M's got out of their DH's (.206-.276-.335), his overall production would be a nice upgrade. And we picked up Justin , too!
