The Offseason Moves from the Sox's F. O. thus far have been way beyond my expectations.2 more possible Boston Red Sox trades though to keep things moving full speed ahead with the improvements.

#1. Boston/Miami trade:

Red Sox get: OF-M. Ozuna
RP-B. Ellington

Marlins get: SP-J. Kelly
SP-R. Elias

#2. Boston/Cleveland trade:

Red Sox get: SP-C. Carrasco
-or-
D. Salazar

Indians get: OF-M. Ozuna
SP-H. Owens
-or-
B. Johnson

1B-S. Travis.

Or, the Indians can just trade Carrasco or Salazar to the Marlins for Ozuna.

In fact, there's about a 1 in five trillion percent chance that the Marlins take that deal from Boston.

2.) 08 Dec 2015 00:42:23
Not sure about all of that, bob. I guess they're believable, but highly unlikely.

3.) 08 Dec 2015 01:26:27
Indeed, the above trades would have a distant chance to take place. They were purely a thought for the Sox obtaining a future #2 SP to compliment with today's acquisitions of C. Smith and R. Elias from Seattle.
If they don't occur, I am not going to lose sleep over it. I am very content with the amazing acquisitions the Sox have pulled off this off-season thus far.
But. Natedub, the Indians would definitely demand more than just Ozuna for Carrasco or Salazar. Would the Marlins be willing to part with more? Personally, that I doubt.
The expressed interest the Marlins have shown with Kelly and Elias is reason for the Sox being involved.

4.) 08 Dec 2015 03:37:09
And the Marlins would demand significantly more for Ozuna.

5.) 08 Dec 2015 14:45:10
Not Carrasco. and more needed for Salazar.

Red Sox signings in FA:

#1.J.Zimmermann SP
[6yrs./$144M]-Front Loaded

Yr.#1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6
28M--28M--26M--26M--20M T.Opt.--16M T.Opt.

#2.A.DeAza OF
[3yrs./$21M]

7.5M--7.5M--6M T.Opt

#3.R.Webb RP
[3yrs./$10.5M]

3.5M--3.5M--3.5M

*Combined with the 2 trades that I mentioned above with Padres and Indians, below is the Revamped Lineup and Rotation.
A team that should be able to at least contend for a Wild Card Spot.

*The Red Sox will go over the $189M Luxury Cap with these moves unfortunately. My calculations will have them at approx. $216.35M total.
Going over the Cap is something the Red Sox F.O. would not like to do, but the Ownership can afford it.
They will though have all of 2016 to shop the likes of Uehara, Miley, Ramirez and/or Sandoval to get back under the Cap. and make some further improvements in replenishing their abundant Farm System with young Pitchers hopefully.

I feel that making these moves will satisfy their needs they are desperate for, in especially the Pitching Dept. without spending ridiculous $$$ to do so.
The Bullpen overhaul would be off to a decent start, but will still need further adjustments as the year progresses.

For some reason the Starters and Relievers were not included in my posting originally. Maybe it was a little too long, who knows.
Here is the addition to the above Lineup for the Red Sox.

I could've sworn De Aza got traded to SF?

3.) 15 Sep 2015 19:29:14
^^^He did, but he'll be a free agent come November.

Indians get:

J.Bradley Jr. OF
Joe Kelly SP

Red Sox get:

D.Salazar SP

That's actually a little intriguing. However I think Bradley needs to prove himslef more and CLE will probably want more

13 Sep 2015 03:59:20
Padres get:

C.Buchholz SP
D.Marrero SS, 2B
J.Guerra SS

Red Sox get:

C.Kimbrel CL

BoSoxBob

1.) 13 Sep 2015 06:22:13
Would take sooooooooo much higher quality players, Marrero and Guerra don't begin to scratch the surface of a Kimbrel deal. Plus, Buccholz is likely to be a free agent after this season because the Sox won't pick up his option.

2.) 13 Sep 2015 07:08:16
SFGfan24. and your countering recommendations would be?

3.) 13 Sep 2015 18:59:56
Pick a top 3 prospect in the Red Sox organization. That's what Preller will want.

4.) 13 Sep 2015 21:17:12
That sounds reasonable to me. Remove Guerra out of the offer and replace him M.Margot
[Rated #3 in Red Sox Farm and Rated #27 out of all MLB Farm systems.]

5.) 14 Sep 2015 00:50:24
For Kimbrel, you would need to send Henry Owens, Manuel Margot, and Anderson Epinoza just to keep Preller on the phone.

06 Sep 2015 23:40:04
Red Sox get: C.Carrasco

Indians get: H.Ramirez & $10M/yr. for 3yrs.

*Yes, a drastic move by the Sox but there is no sensible place for H.Ramirez and his shoddy Def.even at 1B. Sox will have to move on from at least 1 of the 2 bad contracts from 2015.
They could place him at DH but HanRam and D.Ortiz platooning for the next 2yrs. is highly unlikely. The Red Sox most likely will have the offensive punch to sustain the loss of Ramirez in the lineup.
They obviously need great improvement with their SP. This move would be a decent start in that makeover process and save the Sox F.O. about $8-$9M/yr. over the next 3yrs. by ridding themselves of a major portion of Hanley's bad contract for the next 3 yrs.

*Cleveland would be able to sustain the loss of Carassco with Kluber, Salazar, Bauer, and Anderson as the 4 SP's remaining.
They could use an improvement with HanRam's bat put at DH and keep C.Santana platooning with J.Sands at 1B.

*Cleveland also would receive the necessary $ to pay for the $5M/yr. for the next 2yrs. for shipping out Bourn and Swisher and still have a $5M surplus to shop offseason if they chose.

BoSoxBob

1.) 07 Sep 2015 00:16:35
Carrasco is cheap, controlled, and very good. Ramirez is a declining, older, and a terrible defender.! It would take prospects or a cheap, controlled, young bat to net Carrasco from Cleveland.

2.) 07 Sep 2015 02:53:51
I wouldn't expect Jerry Sands to be on the Opening Day roster next year.

3.) 07 Sep 2015 14:46:44
As a Sox fan, I would love this.

As a realist, if Boston could get a six pack of beer and some nudie pictures for HanRam and Panda, they should probably take it at this point.

Understandable. The above mentioned trade for T.Ross and C.Kimbrel was only a start.although I may correct myself and now hold back offering R.Castillo and just keep M.Margot as the centerpiece of trade.

So onward. FA's to be: Victorino,Napoli,Breslow, and Masterson will very tough to move in trades. These guys will bring minimal return if any at all, nevertheless still shop them.
Though not a FA next year,A.Craig may be hard to give away also,he would be worthwhile to keep around for another chance until the Farm OF'ers develope further.

Other key moves I would recommend the R.Sox Front Office to consider and follow through with are as follows:

*D.Ortiz has got to go. His contract $$$ on the books just don't provide enough of a return to have him kept around any longer with his options for the 2 yrs. His legacy will never be forgotten, but it's time move on.

*H.Ramirez to the DH is a must, so his Fielding can be removed from play permanently once and for all. A major decrease in injury is most likely too.

*P.Sandoval at 3B is OK for now.if he continues to flounder in the field, then the F.O. should consider moving him to 1B.he may argue that notion but I think he will agree it's what's best for the team in the near future if that may be the case. He is a talented enough hitter to improve himself for next season, so I am not concerned with him in that regard.

*The Sox should resign A.DeAza with a 3yr./18-20M deal. He and B.Holt have proven their worth this season and both should be rewarded for their spark and efforts when the team needed guys to step up.

*Offer B.Holt a raise and restructure his Contract.
I would give a 3-4yr./15-16M deal for being the Super UTIL he is and away from the Marketplace, even though He and DeAza could reap a decent return as trade bait.

*I was on the C.Hamels train for as long as it lasted, but until recently. no more.
The team should pursue J.Zimmerman in FA at season's end.like immediately! He is not an Ace per say but would blend well with the Staff with his proven consistency like that of an Ace in both In-season and Post-season play. Of course only if was willing to take a chance signing with the Sox. If so. I have a feeling the F.O. will be able to offer another Lester-type contract at him.a front-loaded 4yr/125-130M +1yr.Opt. Even though he would be offered much more by other teams,Boston's recent titles, present staff, and future stars coming up from the farm might be enough to encourage him to play his part in putting this back on track. He obviously would have his chance to step out the shadows playing behind the likes of Scherzer and Strasburg, just as would most anywhere else. A chance to be the Go-To Guy the Sox desperately need.

*Lastly, the Bullpen is in dire need of reconditioning for the future,it should begin immediately as mentioned in the above trade. The Sox need to be all over C.Kimbrel. That's where the overhaul needs to start. For now and until 2015 season's end, the farm should also be given more PT to get more of a taste of what they have hand for next season.

After Kimbrel.I'm going after LH relief to compliment T.Layne.

Ideal Moves to compliment the T.Ross/C.Kimbrel trade:

-Trade any 2 of T.Ball/M.Chavis/S.Travis/W.Rijo/T.Buttrey/ and G.Cecchini
to MIL for W.Smith.

-Shop C.Buchholz to any team offering any decent,or the Sox just buy him out.

-Shop K.Uehara to any team also offering any fair return.

*Only another armchair GM's ideas at play,so we will see.

#9-lhb B.Swihart C
**Shaw and Craig platoon

*D.Nava,D.Marrero,C.Vazquez start 2016 in AAA until needed.

_______Starters________ ________Bullpen________
#1-RH- J.Zimmerman CL.-RH- C.Kimbrel
#2-RH- R.Porcello SR.-LH- W.Smith
#3-RH- T.Ross SR.-RH- Uehara/Tazawa/Kelly
#4-LH- W.Miley LR.-RH- Ogando/Kelly
#5-LH- E.Rodriquez LR.-LH- Layne

*S.Wright,B.Workman,R.Ross and others on standby in AAA until needed.

*I think most of the Players will learn from their underachievements this year and 2016 will look even more promising with Pitching overhaul. I believe B.Cherington will still be the GM and J.Farrell will remain as the HC.

*Financially speaking, the Red Sox should also fall under the Salary Cap by about $5M according to my approximate calculations. They will be able to handle the huge signing of J.Zimmerman. Offer new deals to B.Holt,A.DeAza,handle the approx. $10-12M in Arb. deals to take place, and approx.$12M for Med. Insurance that all teams pay. The available $$$$ will be available from the 4 FA's on their way out,the possible buyout of Buchholz, and declining the option to Ortiz. $$$$ that will also be able to afford the other fairly young cost/team controlled additions of T.Ross,C.Kimbrel,and W.Smith. All 3 that also fit the ideals that the Sox F.O. is looking for.

*Looks like a pretty picture for 2016 and beyond folks.
