Yankees get Gerrit Cole
Pirates get Miguel Adujar, Clint Frazier, and Chance Adams.

BuccoFan21

1.) 22 Dec 2017 18:15:37
As a pirates fan, I really want this, but I don't think we get all 3 of them.

2.) 22 Dec 2017 20:59:54
With or without Cole, Pirates won't be competing for playoffs. They have to trade him. Either now or at deadline. Waiting til then will drop price (only one and a half seasons) and bring risk (injury or performance) Better to trade him now. Who else will beat offer of Frazier and Adams? Yanks are in driver's seat. Take it or leave it.

3.) 23 Dec 2017 00:17:48
They don't HAVE to trade Gerrit Cole.

It'd be wise for them to, but they have 2 years before he's a free agent, he's 27 and he's a massive bargain.

They have plenty of time to find a suitable offer for Cole.

4.) 23 Dec 2017 02:02:30
I agree with stat, I don't like the thought that the Yankees hold all the leverage here. The pirates don't have to move Cole, and of they do, half the league would be interested.

5.) 23 Dec 2017 02:12:38
Also, Cole had a somewhat down year. If he rebounds this season, he could be worth even more at the deadline than he is right now.

Pirates Off-Season
Yes I posted something like this but I changed the players involved. Also I don't think this has any chance of happening but I need something for hope because the Pirates have done nothing this year.

That's all pretty realistic. I think they could probably get a bit more for Cutch, especially if there's a team who's looking for a "name", where the Nats have no need for that, but if Roark turns into what he's capable of, that's still a pretty solid offseason.

2.) 14 Dec 2017 15:11:31
Why would the Nationals trade a controllable arm (and a really good one) for one year of McCutchen? Roark isn't a free agent until 2020 and is a staple on that rotation.

If that's what Pittsburgh is asking for McCutchen, they'll be holding on to him.

3.) 14 Dec 2017 16:14:02
Roark is projected as the nats five starter and with Cole and Ross in the minors they can afford to trade him.

4.) 14 Dec 2017 16:15:10
The Nationals trade was supposed to be Wilmer Difo for this who didn't pick up in it. got to love autocorrect.

08 Dec 2017 03:06:39
So, I'll be the first one to admit that this is not very good... but I would like to get back into this so I was curious what you guys would do different so I can get a better grasp on what works and doesn't.

Pirates Off-Season

Sign:
Seung-Hwan Oh 1 year 3 million
Jaime Garcia 2 year 16 million
Yunel Escobar 1 year 4 million

Trade:
Pirates get Jake Odorizzi
Ray's get Tyler Glasnow & Kevin Kramer

Pirates get Jurickson Profar
Rangers get David Freeze

Pirates get Nate Jones
White Sox get Ivan Nova

Rotation:
1 - Gerrit Cole
2 - Jameson Taillon
3 - Jake Odorizzi
4 - Jaime Garcia
5 - Trevor Williams

Bullpen:
CL - Felipe Rivers
SU - George Kontos
SU - Nate Jones
MR - Daniel Hudson
MR - Seung-Hwan Oh
MR - Chad Kuhl
MR - Steven Brault

Lineup:
C - Francisco Cervelli
1B - Josh Bell
2B - Josh Harrison
3B - Yunel Escobar
SS - Jordy Mercer
LF - Starling Marte
CF - Andrew McCutchen
RF - Gregory Polanco

Bench:
Jurickson Profar
Elias Diaz
Sean Rodriguez
Jose Osuna
Adam Frazier

I realize that the trades are pretty bad, although I think the Odorizzi one is decent. What should change?

BuccoFan21

1.) 08 Dec 2017 16:30:03
I think the Odorizzi trade is the worst of all of these. The Pirates should not give up so quickly on Glasnow.

2.) 08 Dec 2017 17:29:29
Really? I thought that was by far the best trade. I think Glasnow could be good but not in Pittsburgh, I think he needs a change in scenery. Glasnow had no path to the rotation and is on the outside looking in to even make the bullpen. Has value because of his prospect history but has been horrendous in the majors.

3.) 09 Dec 2017 01:34:16
If Nate Jones can stay healthy, he has the upside of being a lockdown 8th inning guy that consistently hits triple digits with a wipeout slider. Not a chance the Sox give up on him for a guy like Ivan Nova, who is only controlled through 2019 and hasn't even been that great, especially with what solid relievers get at the deadline these days.

17 Nov 2017 03:39:46
Pirates get RP Miguel Castro
Orioles get SP Ivan Nova and 2B/SS Kevin Kramer

I'm not really sure if this would work but the Orioles don't seem to want to tear down and think they could contend. Their rotation is a mess and they have a surplus of decent middle relievers. Pirates throw in Kramer to try and get the Orioles to pay the contract of Nova and Castro would be the primary middle reliever for the Pirates. Maybe add a lower prospect or cash going to the Orioles.

I wrote down a handful of trades from this site and a few like it from about a year ago, I think it'll be interesting to see how the trades that were proposed a while ago stack up today

Braves get Jackie Bradley Jr., Brock Holt, and Henry Owens
Red Sox get Julio Tehran

Marlins get Roenis Elias
Mariners get Marcell Ozuna

Orioles get Nick Markakis and 6 MM
Braves get Mike Wright, Drew Dosch, and Parker Bridwell

Once again, these are not my ideas nor I agree with all of them I just thought it would be interesting to look back on them. I have some more from further back so if you like this I will post more.

BuccoFan21

1.) 03 Feb 2017 04:19:37
Red Sox don't need another starter, the Marlins can get more and better for Elias, who i believe is with Boston now. And i don't believe Markakis would bring 3 prospects back.

2.) 03 Feb 2017 05:11:31
I'm curious, do you think Roenis Elias is spectacular, or think that Marcell Ozuna is terrible? I can't see any justification for that trade.

3.) 03 Feb 2017 05:13:34
Never mind. I'm a doofus and skipped right to the trades. I'll be sure to read the posts in full from here on out.

4.) 03 Feb 2017 15:40:16
Should I post more of these?

5.) 03 Feb 2017 17:14:15
Yes. This is awesome.

6.) 03 Feb 2017 18:15:51
Now that I understand what you're doing, yes. It's kind of interesting to see what people thought a year ago.

7.) 03 Feb 2017 22:35:32
Also think that a year ago these were considered fair. The Braves signed/ traded for so many starters this offseason that Taherahn isn't even gaurenteed a spot anymore.

8.) 04 Feb 2017 00:34:41
CS16, Julio Teheran is the ace of the braves pitching staff.

And he has been the ace since 2014. So what do you mean by he isn't guaranteed a spot anymore?

9.) 04 Feb 2017 01:55:30
Teheran is guaranteed a spot. Not sure what planet you're on.

10.) 04 Feb 2017 02:52:12
Umm, Teheran is still their best pitcher.

11.) 04 Feb 2017 19:08:07
Elias is with Boston.

12.) 04 Feb 2017 19:08:07
Elias is with Boston.

Don't worry BuccoFan, Huskers will try and criticize everyone and everything he possibly can.

4.) 21 Dec 2016 05:13:07
I guess it was only twice. It's just weird your fascination with Domonic Brown. He hasn't played for a season and a half and hasn't been good for about 3.

There are about 100 other guys to sign on minor league deals I would pick before Brown. Maybe 500.

5.) 23 Dec 2016 05:36:03
Bucs just traded ramirez to the jays at the deadline. I doubt they want him back.

12 Mar 2016 03:40:00
Today the Pirates signed David Freese to a 1-year 3-million dollar contract. They have said that he will be the starting third baseman until Jung-Ho Kang is healthy then will be the right handed half of the first base platoon. With the signing of Matt Joyce last week this and Josh Bell coming up this leaves Michael Morse without a meaningful role while making almost 9 million dollars. What are some potential trades that the Pirates could swing evolving Morse?

BuccoFan21

1.) 13 Mar 2016 18:19:15
I think they should just release him since he is old and overrated in my opinion, I men they could swing him for a PTBNL or cash or a low level prospect that doesn't have a good chance of making it to the bigs, but I know for a fact that the Pirates will get something of little to no value for him, or they might just chose to release him.

Crazy overpay, no way the Yanks would give up that much and they are still looking for a starter after C. C.

They're not going to sign him because he is on the AAA roster, DFA doesn't mean he gets released
