Yankees get OF Christian Yelich

Marlins get OF Clint Frazier, RHP Chance Adams, RHP Domingo Acevedo and SS/2B Thairo Estrada.

Marlins get 2 top 50 prospects, one is OF Frazier(was rated as high as #15 before graduating) and #52 RHP Adams. They also get RHP Acevedo who is #6 in Yankees top 30 and number #17 in SS/2B Estrada.

Yankees improve their line up and team with the addition of Yelich, who is locked up for years and owns one of the most affordable contracts in baseball.

I used the Adam Eaton trade as a guide. Even though I know Yelich is a better player.
What do you guys think? I feel that it might be a tad light on the Yankees side.

(This trade would only take place if the Yankees are somehow able to trade Ellsbury, I know its a long shot but one only hope.)

Yelich is 3 years younger than Eaton, and I'd argue he's better. I think the return will top Eaton's, by quite a bit.

Keep in mind, the Marlins have stated they aren't eager to move him, so I'd imagine they'd want a really nice return just to convince them. Somehow, I'm not sure this is enough.

That said, I think you're on the right path here. But it just seemed a bit light.

Yea I agree with you. At first I actually had RHP Freicer Perez as the 4th piece instead of SS/ 2B Estrada but then I went over to check the Marlins top prospect and realized they might need some young middle infielders in their farm.

The Marlins need everything in that system.

To NYY- RHP Sonny Gray

To Oakland- OF Blake Rutherford(#36)
RHP Chance Adams(#56)
LHP Ian Clarkin
SS/2B Thairo Estrada

For NYY they acquire a top of the rotation starter in Gray. Gray has 2 1/2 years of control, is young and relatively cheap(for now since he is about to enter his 2nd year through arbitration.)

For the A's, Rutherford headlines the deal. He's not lighting up in Low-A but is having a solid year batting .281/.343/382 with an OPS of .725 in his first full year as a pro. The co-headliner is RHP Adams, who is having a good season at AAA with an ERA of 2.45 in 62 innings pitched, Adams still walks too many batters and that may be the reason he hasn't been called-up. Clarkin was picked #33 in 2013, still only 22 years old and has an ERA of 2.62 in 65 inning in High-A and SS/2B Estrada projects as a utility player, altough he is batting .315/.370/.412 through 337 AB as a 21 year old in AA.

Rutherford as a headliner is not very safe for the A's since he is far away from reaching the majors but the A's would be banking on his upside. Also Adams could make his debut later this year.

Apologize for  the long post, I usually get carried away when writting. But what do you guys think? I think that package might be light and Oakland would insist for OF Frazier or SS Torres as headliners. But would like to hear the opinion from A's and Yanks fans.
Also rankings are from Baseball America mid-season top 100. If you go by MLB. com, Rutherford #30 and Adams #93.

I'm not sure Oakland wants a CF that's so far away from the majors yet. I'm also unsure if the Yankees are willing to deal that package.

I also think this gets beat by several teams.

3.) 16 Jul 2017 16:35:27
I think it's okay. Like statbook, I think another team would offer more.

4.) 17 Jul 2017 00:12:08
Sony Gray will net a return similar to what the Sox got for Q. It will be slightly lighter imo but still at least a top 10-15 prospect will be a headliner.

Don't think Yanks are looking to trade Adams. And don't think Yanks are interested in Gray at this point.

Yankees get 2B/3B Jed Lowrie.

Oakland A's get SS/2B Hoy Jun Park(#23) and CF Mason Williams.

Yankees get an upgrade at 3B in Lowrie without trading any of their top prospects. This also allows Gleyber Torres to spend most of the season at AAA and not be rushed.

For Oakland they get former top prospect CF Mason Williams who is struggling right now at AAA but a change of scenery might be good for him and an interesting prospect in Park that can play either 2B or SS but has ways to go.

I like it, snowman.

Sounds good. Fair value. Lowrie has $6 mil option for '18. I'm sold. One of better posts. Keep up good work!

You forgot to include Aaron Judge, c'mon man. In you're trade scenario the Yankees absolutely rob the Miami Marlins. The Yankees also better be taking all the money that's owed to Stanton and Prado to make the trade more fair.

The return to Detroit is really light for the reigning ROY, that's young, good and controllable for multiple season.

I also don't see Detroit moving him, he is the type of player you build around IMO.
