Jays marlins trade.

Jays get Yelich

Marlins get pillar, Carrera, Reid-foley, Danner

Jays upgrade their outfield for the next several years. Marlins get place holder outfielders, and a couple quality prospects for the future.

Thoughts?

Jaysfan17

1.) 22 Jan 2018 21:24:53
Not even close to what Yelich gets.

2.) 22 Jan 2018 22:05:43
Getting one of the top young players in the game without giving up a single decent prospect. How convenient.

3.) 22 Jan 2018 22:58:33
And i got a bahahaha for my proposal. As if.

4.) 24 Jan 2018 15:03:01
Your's was easily funnier. Stroman in a Yelich trade and STL trading Ozuna.

5.) 24 Jan 2018 16:27:36
His was at least slightly realistic.

This was beyond terrible.

6.) 24 Jan 2018 22:09:26
Except mine also included Realmuto, one of the best yoing catchers in the game.

I would think the Marlins would ask for two top 100 prospects + a very good young MLB player for those two.

Of course it won't happen but it is fair and good for both clubs.

7.) 25 Jan 2018 17:41:56
Yelich and Realmuto talks involving Toronto would start with either Vlad Guerrero Jr. or Bichette.

8.) 25 Jan 2018 18:26:22
"Jays trade Stroman, Bichette, Alford, and Reid Foley to Marlins for Yelich, Realmuto. "

They not only included Bichette, but a controllable pitcher, and another top 100 pitcher.

9.) 25 Jan 2018 21:47:24
*Top 100 player (Alford), not pitcher.

10.) 26 Jan 2018 03:13:35
Brewers trade a couple top 100 and couple throw ins for Yelich. Decent return because Brinson was included.

With them adding Yelich and Cain, brewers looking much better, still need more pitching though.

11.) 26 Jan 2018 04:23:51
Mark my words:

This Brewers team, as is right now, wins the division by 5 games. Adding an ace, they run away with it. That team is solid.

12.) 26 Jan 2018 06:28:25
"Brewers trade a couple top 100 and couple throw ins for Yelich. Decent return because Brinson was included. "

Brinson was a consensus top 100 prospect and both Harrison and Diaz have made different top 100 lists this offseason. So it's arguably 3 top 100 prospects and the 21th ranked prospect in a strong system.

13.) 26 Jan 2018 12:07:08
Can somenody please explain to me what exactly the marlins are doing.

I understand the dumping of the large contracts.

But Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto etc?

It makes no sense, they are young, cheap controllable contracts.

If this happened up here with the jays, people would be rioting in the streets.

14.) 26 Jan 2018 14:02:50
the marlins farm system was baron, they had very little depth and Jeter realized it. Now they have a better farm system. Look what other teams have done such as the Cubs, White Sox, Yankees, Padres, Braves, Pirates, and others.

15.) 26 Jan 2018 20:17:14
Marlins were 28th in attendance last year, 20k per game.

Its going to be really bad this year.

All teams have to rebuild at some point, but this ones a head scratcher.

16.) 27 Jan 2018 05:14:14
its almost always like that in terms of attendance. whether they are winning or losing, people don't go. Unless teams like the Yankees, Mets, Cardinals, Cubs, Red Sox, and a few other come to town. They really just needed to sign a couple good starting pitchers and they could have won.

Fake news alert: jaysfan17 could be a great gm. Not.

To cardinals: Donaldson

To jays: Reyes, micheal Taylor, prospect Kelly

Jays don’t want to or need to trade jd. So asking price is going to be ridiculous. Trade addresses needs. Thoughts?

Jaysfan17

1.) 14 Dec 2017 23:02:57
As much as the Cardinals would love Donaldson, I don't think there's a chance they trade Reyes.

2.) 14 Dec 2017 23:53:11
Michael Taylor?

IMO the jays need to add in several spots, rotation, outfield, backup catcher. They can go one stop shopping in LA if they’re willing to pay the high price.
To jays: grandal, Pederson

To LA: Osuna, case.
Back up catcher and outfielder for bullpen help and bullpen prospect. I know this needs work, give me some ideas? Thanks.

Pederson is one of those guys that was a great prospect, so we give him more time and value him higher.

The reality is, he's a guy with literally no room for regression.

Let's look at the BABIP:

A+: .350
AA: .327
AAA: .385 (! )
MLB Debut: .235
Y1: .262
Y2: .296
Y3: .241

Just when it seemed like Pederson was figuring out major-league hitters, he regressed, and regressed hard. Fangraphs has some interesting articles on Pederson, specifically, and why he struggles with getting valuable hits, but all in all, I'm not seeing much to believe Pederson is ever going to match his hype. One more season and we can file him in the "bust" cabinet.

Moral of the story: the Blue Jays can do better than a rental catcher and a bust for Osuna.

To Colorado: P Francisco liriano + SS Richard Urena

To Toronto: OF Raimel Tapia.

Jaysfan17

1.) 30 Jun 2017 13:19:34
You want to give up a top 100 prospect for a guy who most scouts don't think will hit at the big league level?

2.) 01 Jul 2017 11:52:00
Are you talking about Tapia or Urena now? Who the scouts Don't like?

3.) 01 Jul 2017 12:13:15
Sorry for not clarifying.

Urena is the Top 100 prospect. Most scouts don't think Tapia will hit in the majors.

4.) 02 Jul 2017 23:58:25
Oh OK, because they are both in top 100. Urena is probably the guy after Tulo. Hopefully sooner then later.

To Toronto: Lorenzo Cain

To KC: Happ, Tellez

2 expiring contracts for each other's areas of need. Cain is better than happ, so tellez evens the trade

Jaysfan17

1.) 23 Apr 2017 06:06:01
Happ, as in JA Happ, he's injured at the moment, and correct me if i'm wrong but that injury he has is usually a precursor for TJ surgery.

2.) 23 Apr 2017 13:05:58
Why would jays do this?

Cain is a good player but he's a free agent after this year. Tellez will be the Jays future first baseman in almost everybody's eyes.

It looks like the Jays run is over so expect some trades for younger pieces this year not free agents.

3.) 23 Apr 2017 17:02:23
The Jays are in win-now mode. They'll get Tulo, Donaldson and others back from the DL, then look to make a run.

4.) 23 Apr 2017 17:36:31
Its also the first month of the season, so there is no reason to panic and run for the hills thinking the end is near for the blue jays.

5.) 23 Apr 2017 19:33:20
I'm not sure it will get better. That team is incredibly poorly put together and has absolutely no depth. They built everything on players playing at the highest percentile last season.

If I'm Toronto, I start selling pieces by early June.

6.) 24 Apr 2017 16:24:08
Since no one else pointed it out, Happ is not on an expiring contract. He's signed through 2018.
