This may or may not be an overpay, but Giants need to do all they can do to get Stanton, and to avoid him possibly going to LA.

There's very little chance they'll give that return for him.

As a Giants fan, I have watched Strickland pitch, and although he has been better lately, I am not convinced he is worth a top 10 prospect. I do believe Wilson is a top 30 however.

He has a sub-2 ERA, he doesn't hit arbitration until this winter, so he's controllable for another 3 seasons.
Think of what the Padres are asking for Brad Hand, that's what the Giants will ask for Strickland. At least one, if not two elite prospects. And rightly so.

Think of what the Padres are asking for Brad Hand (top 100 prospect), and expect the Giants to ask that for Strickland. The guy hasn't even hit arbitration yet and is a one of the better non-closing relievers in baseball.
