Twins rebuilding Trades:

Trade #1: LAD-MIN

Dodgers Get: Brian Dozier, Ervin Santana

Twins Get: Micah Johnson, Brock Stewart, Austin Barnes, Willie Calhoun, Jacob Rhame

Why it makes sense for LA: They need to fill in voids with SP Rich Hill and 2B Chase Utley leaving as FA's. They also need a righty to steady out a higly-stocked left-handed rotation (Kershaw, Kazmir, Urias)

Why i'd makes sense for Twins: They get 5 of LA's top 21 prospects

Trade #2: BOS-MIN

Red Sox Get: Glen Perkins, Brandon Kintzler

Twins get: Michael Kopech, Jake Cosart

Why it makes sense for Boston: They get two veteran arms to help a bullpen that needs help

Why is makes sense for Twins: They get 2 top 20 pitching prospects

Trade #3: COL-MIN

Rockies Get: Trevor Plouffe

Twins Get: German Marquez, Ben Bowden

Why it makes sense for Colorado: Plouffe can fill in at first base. For a power hitter like him, I think it would be good for him to be in Colorado where the ball flies.

Why it makes sense for Twins: They get 2 more pitching prospects to help out the future

Trade #4: SEA-MIN

Mariners Get: Kurt Suzuki, Hector Santiago

Twins Get: Joe Rizzo, Christopher Torres, Tony Zych

Why it makes sense for M's: They need a better catcher than Ianetta/ Zunino. Santiago also gives them depth at SP

Why it makes sense for Twins: Neither player will cost much, especially a combined salary of $11M. So they can't ask for too much in return.

Meant to put the lineup in. Here it is:

2017 Lineup and Rotation:

Lineup:
Buxton CF
Polanco SS
Mauer 1B
Sano 3B
Park DH
Kepler RF
Rosario LF
Barnes C
Johnson 2B

Rotation:
Hughes
Gibson
Duffey
Berrios
Stewart.

2.) 08 Oct 2016 18:10:47
Suzuki is an FA. Plus the Twins would probably trade Dozier and Santana separately. Dozier could get way more than that alone.

3.) 08 Oct 2016 20:21:20
mariners trade is awful. They wouldn't trade away 2 decent prospects and a decent reliever for an average catcher, and a declining pitcher that both will be free agents soon.

4.) 11 Oct 2016 18:15:24
Don't think the Red Sox trade 2 pitching prospect for relievers since you can find some decent ones in free agency.

1.) 02 Oct 2016 02:58:52
So can you explain how a player can be sent down during the offseason please? I am really curious how this could happen since there are no games being played. I don't see them getting Chapman, I see a New York reunion for him. Next The Yankees would take that trade and run before the Nats realized they got conned.

2.) 02 Oct 2016 13:51:24
By a player going down during the offseason, I mean cut him from next years MLB roster. Also, Chapman going to the Yanks for that kind of deal doesn't work because they have some good prospects coming up that will get big money in the next few years, so the long-term contract for chapman doesn't work.

3.) 02 Oct 2016 16:40:21
You also have to realize you suggested a trade but still have Perez on your team.

4.) 02 Oct 2016 16:50:08
The Nationals would be giving up a lot for two older players.

5.) 02 Oct 2016 17:28:16
Your reasoning for Chapman not going back to the Yankees makes zero sense. Yes they are cutting payroll now, but by 2018 that will not longer be necessary. You act like they are money giants. So what you are saying is you want to DFA those players of the roster right? That means they could be lost to other teams, something I don't think the Nationals want to happen to good young players.

6.) 02 Oct 2016 21:35:33
No. I'm saying have them start in the minors next year. Sull, I meant to put Stratton there.

7.) 03 Oct 2016 05:26:16
Bottom line is you cannot make those moves in the offseason, by taking someone off the major league roster in the offseason is to release, DFA, trade, or non-tender them. I'm sorry you don't seem to know how these easy things work. There are no games, its all a 40 man roster in the offseason.

Washington Sports Guy

1.) 24 Sep 2016 08:29:15
What a bad trade.

2.) 24 Sep 2016 14:53:03
How? STL gets a young arm they need for the rotation. Arizona gets a top prospect, a guy who will hit 20 HRs and play middle INF with Segura, and a veteran arm the could use in the rotation or out of the bullpen.

3.) 24 Sep 2016 16:07:49
Jedd Gyorko isn't good.

4.) 24 Sep 2016 18:18:05
The trade is unnecessary, Sull. The Cards will have Lynn back next year, and a rotation of Martinez-Waino-Leake-Lynn-Reyes, with guys such as Lyons and Garcia also in line.

The lineup needs tweaking. The Cards will likely keep Moss, but let Holliday go.

5.) 24 Sep 2016 18:42:28
Jerk, Gyorko is underrated. He's having a great year.

6.) 24 Sep 2016 18:42:47
RSG, I'm not Sull, i'm WSG.

7.) 24 Sep 2016 19:32:17
In his two best seasons, Gyorko has barely been a starter per WAR standards.

Not to mention, he is worse than anyone Arizona has at 2B, SS, and 3B.

Maybe I overstated my stance on Gyorko, but no one is going to take him as a serious addition in a trade for a young, controllable pitcher.

I know i'm a Nats fan but this is what the Mets have to do in order to get back ahead of the Nats and further into the postseason.

NYM Offseason:

Buy out Jay Bruce (to save money for Cespedes' 27 million dollar player option)

Re-sign:

Bartolo Colon: 1 year, 7.5 million
Jerry Blevins: 3 years, 13 million
Kelly Johnson: 1 year, 3 million
James Loney: 1 year, 1 million
Jose Reyes: 1 year, 1 million

Free Agency:

None

Trade #1: TEX-NYM

Mets get: Jonathan Lucroy (deny club option and sign him to 6 year, 80 million dollar contract)

Rangers Get: Jonathan Niese, Travis d'Arnaud, Anthony Kay

Lineup:
Granderson RF
Cabrera SS
Wright 3B
Cespedes CF
Lucroy C
Duda 1B
Nimmo LF
Flores 2B
Pitcher

Bench:
Johnson UTIL/ IF
Loney 1B (will play 1st when Duda gets hurt)
Reyes SS/ 3B (will play 3rd when Wright gets hurt)
Plawecki C

Rotation:
1. Syndergaard
2. Harvey
3. deGrom
4. Matz
5. Colon
6. Wheeler

Bullpen:
Verrett
Lugo
Henderson
Blevins
Robles
Reed
Familia (CL)

Why trade makes sense for Texas: They get a reliever, a young catcher, and a pitching prospect

Why trade makes sense for NYM: They get an all-star catcher to fill a position that they need to help beat the nats.

Why the 6-man rotation: To help reduce innings for the young starters that have injury history (Harvey, Wheeler, deGrom, Matz)

Thoughts?

Washington Sports Guy

1.) 20 Sep 2016 00:55:41
All of this is bad, then you get to the Lucroy trade and it is terrible. Did you see what they traded away to get Lucroy? I would think they would want something similar in return.

2.) 20 Sep 2016 01:33:35
That pack of bums will not get LuCroy.

3.) 20 Sep 2016 02:08:03
"Save money for Cespedes' 27 million dollar player option"

If you honestly think Cespedes is going to exercise that option, I have a swamp in Montana for sale.

He's opting out.

4.) 20 Sep 2016 02:16:51
Conforto?

5.) 20 Sep 2016 12:03:52
Conforto in the minors. He's terrible.

6.) 20 Sep 2016 13:13:06
He is turning it around It is his sophomore slump, he will be back next year.

7.) 20 Sep 2016 22:10:57
Thats just your opinion. He was horrible to start the year. And with Nimmo coming up in the very near future, there is no margin for error.

8.) 21 Sep 2016 12:56:26
If they bring in Johnson they have no need for Loney so that way you can platoon Nimo and Conforto and who ever isn't starting he can fill that spot on the bench.

9.) 21 Sep 2016 19:32:12
But, then the Mets wouldn't have a true backup first baseman just like the Cubs. They'll have to sign Logan Morrison.

10.) 21 Sep 2016 22:36:13
STFU and anyways Johnson is capable of playing first so you are kind of wrong anyways.

11.) 21 Sep 2016 23:44:23
"True backup first baseman"

Those are words you've used many times in your fantasizing over Logan Morrison.

12.) 22 Sep 2016 04:22:25
No wait, Daniel Nava is much better.
By the way, there are guys on the Cubs who don't play first that could probably play first better than Johnson.

Washington Sports Guy

1.) 17 Sep 2016 19:22:23
Do you know how extensions even work?

2.) 17 Sep 2016 20:03:31
Tell me if you want.

3.) 17 Sep 2016 20:44:22
Tell me too please. I thought I knew, but maybe I don't after all.

4.) 18 Sep 2016 01:50:43
I thought an extension was when a team signs a player to keep them longer when the player is not a free agent. Romine is going into arbitration, so he's not a free agent. Therefore, it's an extension. You agree minnow?

5.) 18 Sep 2016 16:20:13
If this happens they won't play Torres at third they will play Austin or Refsnider at 3rd and put Bird who many have forgotten about at 1st. And none of this will happen. Evioldi is out all of next year so if your post was to make sense you would either not trade Pinada or put Musgrove in your rotation, and plus they should put Moran on the bench instead of Kowert.

6.) 19 Sep 2016 00:03:19
How is eovaldi out next year?

7.) 19 Sep 2016 02:57:21
He had TJ surgery on his right arm and surgery on his left arm to repair a torn flexer tendon.

8.) 19 Sep 2016 06:11:39
No sull the surgery was on the same elbow.

9.) 19 Sep 2016 12:27:00
No it wasn't look it up.

10.) 20 Sep 2016 00:58:03
I didn't need to look it up to know i was right sull, but I did and it was the same elbow. you are getting really bad with all aspects of your posts lately sull.

Your a Nats Fan right well the Nats are good but I doubt they can beat the Cubs maybe Jays but not Cubs.

2.) 04 Oct 2016 20:27:49
Most unrealistic postseason outcome.

3.) 04 Oct 2016 20:31:24
They can totally beat the Cubs. Go by potition. Nats win the bullpen, 2B, 3B, CF, RF. Also don't forget what Murphy did to them last year.

4.) 04 Oct 2016 22:49:17
Did you honestly just say that Rendon is better than Bryant? You got to be kidding me.

5.) 05 Oct 2016 19:23:36
^This is likely assuming the current lineup where Bryant is playing LF and Baez is playing 3B. If that's the case, I agree with him.

6.) 05 Oct 2016 21:51:19
I guess but still Beaz is pretty good so Rendon isn't having much better of a year considering he has been a starter all year and Beaz started the year on the bench.

7.) 05 Oct 2016 21:59:45
Yeah. I have Bryant in LF.

22 May 2016 17:18:07
What happened withe the balls and strikes in the O's-Angels game on 5/ 21? Can we all agree that the strike three to Escobar and the strike one to Trout were both low? Weiters' glove hit the dirt on both calls,

Washington Sports Guy

1.) 23 May 2016 02:25:01
Umpires only get noticed whenever they make a horrible call. It happens to all umpires and although its tragic, it does happen.

2.) 24 May 2016 20:37:57
Happened in a Sox-Yankees game a few weeks ago. But if the glove hits the dirt it doesn't necessarily mean its a ball. It could be a breaking ball and the catcher just miss judged it. The ump doesn't call balls and strikes based on where the ball ends up, just where the ball crosses the plate.

Trade 1 is horrrible. If that happens for whatever reason, then the Rockies are trading that guy for someone who will be injured all year and they'll und up getting nothing while giving up a prospect and losing over $6M. Iwakuma won't go anywhere because he fails too many physicals. And nonody should be interested in Adam Morgan. Phillies don't need a near 30-year-old who is making $8M a year.

I don't think the Indians are the right place. When Urshela comes up and plays third, they'll put Ramirez in left when they decline Brantley's 2018 club option. Rajai Davis has been good in center field and I think it would be good to re-sign him this offseason.

Should he get traded, I think some of the top places he could go are: Texas (they have Desmond and Beltran leaving as free agents) and Seattle.
