Cubs send CJ Edwards and ss Castro to Oakland for Kazmir and eric sogart
1.) Nope, and it's not even close. Castro is an All-Star SS who often bats cleanup for the Cubbies, signed for the next 5 seasons for less than $9M a season. Edwards, 23, is 14-7 with a 1.86 ERA in 50 Minor League games (49 starts) over the last three seasons. He has 294 strikeouts over 237 innings and has given up two home runs in that stretch. He's the top-rated pitcher on MLB.com's top 20 Cubs prospects. For a one season above-average SP and a utility player? C'mon, Son.

Actually the cubs have talked of moving him before because he never delivered what they thought he'd be and they have a couple young replacements who could be ready this coming year. also edwards was added to make sure he didn't get taken in the rule 5 draft .
3.) I am not a huge Castro fan, but this is asinine.
4.) Ridiculous! The Cubs would never do this trade. They are going to try to compete this year. Castro will be part of that. Later in the year if it doesn't pan out and Russell looks ready, then maybe the Cubs will trade Castro.
5.) Good deal for the A's but I think the Cubs would want another pitcher and not sogard, Pomeranz maybe?
