tigers remaining offseason

tigers - brewers

det gets: of r. braun + '16 comp. balence round b pick (4)
mil gets: sp k. ziomek (7) + rp d. verhagen (17) + 3b n. castellanos + of t. collins

tigers add braun who can take over in leftfield and they add a draft pick

brewers add 4 young guys who can contribute on a rebuilding team and castellanos would play at third since ramirez retired
======================================================================================
tigers - orioles

det gets: rp t. scott (21) + 1b t. mancini (12) + '16 comp. balance round b pick (5)
bal gets: 1b v. martinez

tigers add 2 young prospects who played good in the minors and scott can throw 100 plus and mancini can hit and be a future replacement for miggy and they add another draft pick

orioles add martinez to be their primary dh since davis most likely won't come back
======================================================================================
tigers - angels - dbacks
det gets:
laa = 3b k. kubitza (6)
ari = rp r. burr (23) + if i. diaz (14) + '16 comp. a round a pick (4)
laa gets:
ari = sp mid level prospect + 2b/ 3b a. hill
det = of a. gose
ari gets:
det = 2b i. kinsler
laa = rp j. jewell (10) + c j. bandy (27)

tigers add kubitza who can be the tigers third baseman since they traded castellanos in a trade above and in the future can play with his brother (austin) and they also add burr who is a good reliever and diaz who is added for infield depth and another draft pick

angels add a mid level prospect that will be named later and aaron hill who can be the third basemen for the angels and they add a good fielding outfielder to go along with trout and kalhoun and be the leftfielder

dbacks add kinsler to be the secondbasemen and since he's from arizona would help and also 2 prospects who can make an impact for the dbacks

cl: francisco rodriguez

tigers would have an extra bullpen arm which is their biggest weakness cause having aviles on the bench, he can play everywhere (he even pitched an inning) but not catcher which is what saltalamacchia is for and the bullpen has a lot of new faces which is a plus and feliz, oh, rondon and jimenez would compete for 2 spots which most likely goes to feliz and rondon with oh not far behind and unless hardy continus to pitch well, there is depth the tigers never had and by having aviles on the bench, there technically is no need for a 4th bench player as he can give machado a break or kubitza a break or anyone in the outfield

this lineup would be having 5 new faces and that can help the tigers as the combo of maybin and jackson can help fielding and speed, braun could hit behind davis and miggy but he can get on base for the heart of the order and help get more runs scored, davis would hit behind miggy as he is a power threat with the only downside being he strikes out alot, martinez would be a good 5th hitter beind miggy and davis and braun, kubitza would get the majority of the at bats with aviles getting a few starts there, mccann seems to be the future catcher for the tigers with griener waiting in the minors, machado is a slick fielder and having him as a teammate to iglesias could help and become the modern day version of whitaker and trammell for the next 15 plus years.

1.) 02 Jan 2016 13:16:21
I get the feeling you are cookie with an new account. Same type of posts he does and just as bad.

2.) 02 Jan 2016 14:28:10
these are lop-sided in detroit's favor. for example, if you think the brewers would trade braun for that package of garbage, then something is wrong. detroit's prospect base is questionable anyways, and these are sad.

3.) 02 Jan 2016 17:10:44
BATMAN! You're 100% correct there's no doubt in my mind it's cookie I stopped reading after the Ryan Braun trade but it has cookie written all over it minus the all caps of course.

4.) 02 Jan 2016 20:01:47
I agree because it is obnoxiously long and it is cookie.

5.) 02 Jan 2016 20:22:23
No way the Angels touch this. Aaron Hill would put them in the luxury tax and if Arte Moreno won't go into the tax for Cespedes, Upton, or Gordon there is no way he will for Aaron Hill.

6.) 03 Jan 2016 04:49:07
sorry. i'm not cookie

sorry to upset you guys

im just a tigers fan and i look at the past few years and what the tigers were looking at and they were looking at braun in the past and getting a better prospect list and all of this gets that

but i'm not cookie. lol.

{Ed's note - yet you have the same IP address.}

7.) 03 Jan 2016 05:27:55
funny, the Ed is calling you out cookie. Again its obviously you. One sided Tiger trades, long, terrible post.

8.) 05 Jan 2016 00:18:01
what is "the ED"

29 Dec 2015 18:34:24
im going to post a ridiculous trade idea but i'm doing it just to imagine if this player was on a different team

angels gets:
sp jose de leon (#3)
rp jacob rhame (#23)
rp chris anderson (#9)
c austin barnes (#12)
if cody bellinger (#10)
if corey seager (#1)
of yasiel puig

dodgers gets:
sp matt shoemaker
if roberto baldoquin (#4)
of mike trout

the angels get a lot of major league ready talent and giving up trout is minimal but the idea of trading him while he's the number 1 in baseball and he stays in los angeles and while the angels get de leon who would replace shoemaker, rhame who can be useful out of the bullpen in 2016, anderson can be a starter or a future closer, barnes can be inserted into the catching platoon with soto, bellinger is insurance for if pujols gets hurt or he can even be in the outfield, seager would ultimately be moved to 3B where he can play his best at and with simmons, that would make sense and puig would replace trout in the outfield

the dodgers get another starter which would help ease (in a little amount) the pain of losing grienke and iwakuma, baldoquin could replace seager at ss and then there's trout, he along with pederson and the combo of ethier/ crawford would be awesome

the main reason for this post is imagine if trout and kershaw was on the same team (the best hitter and the best pitcher) and with kershaw signed for a few more years, extend trout now so when the current contract is up, you won't have to pay him nearly $40 million a year. pay him now at about $30-$35 million a year and save a lot of money.

1.) 29 Dec 2015 19:13:55
If the Dodgers gave the Angels every player under the age 26 in their system and $5 billion, it still wouldn't be enough for Moreno to give up Mike Trout.

2.) 29 Dec 2015 19:18:28
Waste of time. Trout will never get traded,

This is the list of players that will never be traded:

Trout
Kershaw
Correa
Seager (Corey)
Stanton
Storman
Brantley
Hosmer
Buxton
Keuchel
King Felix
Machado
Harvey
Wright
Bryant
Rizzo
Arrieta
Russell
Harper
Mccution
Cole
Molina
Rosenthal
Goldschmit
Arenado
Janson
Madbum
Posey

Some might leave in free agency but most won't. And trout isn't one of them he is an Angle for LIFE.

3.) 29 Dec 2015 19:23:53
I think the only way Trout gets moved to LAD is for Kershaw Seager Peterson Uris and others.

4.) 29 Dec 2015 20:43:00
Yea sayin that none of these players are getting moved sounds true but nobody knows I mean Donaldson got moved and he won the MVP so anything can happen.

5.) 29 Dec 2015 20:59:23
Everyone can get traded. period. no one is ever untouchable. it just may take an absurd offer to get that guy.

6.) 29 Dec 2015 21:55:35
CS16: Stanton will get traded at some point.

7.) 29 Dec 2015 22:59:09
I doubt it.

8.) 29 Dec 2015 23:52:18
That list of untradeable guys is laughable.

Trevor Rosenthal?
Kenley Jansen?
Marcus Stroman?

Really?

9.) 30 Dec 2015 01:30:57
which russell.

10.) 30 Dec 2015 01:31:15
in 13 years Stanton will be traded.

11.) 30 Dec 2015 01:32:00
not 13
12
because w/ 1 year left on contract he is sold to Houston.

12.) 30 Dec 2015 04:01:48
Was there really a point in the list?

13.) 30 Dec 2015 04:28:03
or he gets traded after a season when they realize they screwed themselves with this massive contract.

14.) 30 Dec 2015 07:02:39
Think what the Marlins wanted for Fernandez, Seager, Pederson, Urias, and 2 other top prospects. That's Fernandez, Trout is on a whole other level, take that and somehow add to that even more, there is no team out there who has the ability to trade for him or even want to destroy there future that much.

15.) 30 Dec 2015 08:11:19
I think that untradeable list (at least for the near future) is only three deep. Trout, Correa, and Bryant.

16.) 30 Dec 2015 13:32:20
stanton has never played more than 150 games. ever. in six years in the bigs, he has played more than 123 games only twice. the guy seems like he is hurt way too often. he has power, but he's managed more than 90 rbis only once. he will be traded at some point.

17.) 30 Dec 2015 22:24:52
Craig Luke, you're naive if you think that Correa would be in a list of a "3-deep" no trade list.

IF it were three deep, you're talking Trout, Harper, and Kershaw. Easy.

It's much deeper than that, but jeez, what a homer thing to say by pretty much assuming Correa is a top 3 asset in baseball.

28 Dec 2015 08:22:03
det - mia - lad

tigers gets:
(mia) if j. twine (12) + '16 competitive balence lottery pick (5th)
(lad) of y. puig

marlins gets:
(lad) sp j. urias (2) + sp z. lee (19) + rp j. rhame (19) + if c. bellinger (10)
(det) 3b n. castellanos

dodgers gets:
(det) 2b i. kinsler
(mia) sp j. fernandez

tigers add a young hitter in twine that has good speed and baserunning butnot that high in hitting (can manage .275 batting average) but with little power (10-20) and they add another draft pick that can help (you can trade these picks) and also adding puig can help the tigers as it would save them money on not getting a hitter for leftfield like gordon, upton or cespedes

marlins add a top 5 overall prospect that has a bright future ahead of him and can be an ace on a staff, lee was once a top 5 prospect for the dodgers but with the remergence of urias, seager and de leon, he has dropped a few spots to 19th and they also add a reliever who can end up closing for the marlins and also bellinger who can play first or outfield and both can be useful for the marlins

dodgers add a veteran hitting who can take over second on a more consistant level and can mentor seager and they add the prize of this deal in fernandez who him and kershaw can form a very lethal 1-2 combo to a similar capacity as grienke was and adding him and not giving up seager is a win for both sides

then the tigers can do a minor type signing for a 2b/ 3b and 2 names come to mind (chris johnson who would play 3b as a starter or nobuhiro matsuda who would play 2b as a backup) and matsuda would be more of a 2 year $5 million while johnson would be a 1 year $5 million with incentives

tigers lineup: (with johnson)
1) cf anthony gose / cameron maybin
2) 2b dixon machado
3) 1b/ dh miguel cabrera
4) rf jd martinez
5) 1b/ dh victor martinez
6) lf yasiel puig
7) c james mccann
8) 3b chris johnson
9) ss jose iglesias

tigers lineup: (with matsuda)
1) cf anthony gose / cameron maybin
2) 2b dixon machado
3) 1b/ dh miguel cabrera
4) rf jd martinez
5) 1b/ dh victor martinez
6) lf yasiel puig
7) c james mccann
8) 3b mike aviles / nobuhiro matsuda
9) ss jose iglesias

what do you guys think? maybe more for fernandez? i know the marlins want a lot in return and i feel that getting this trade would be best as castellanos would play in his home state which could help him get to the level the tigers drafted him for and that the tigers should consider to trade him while his value is slightly better then the year before and adding castellanos, the dodgers would keep seager at shortstop and perhaps micah johnson at second which is a stretch right now.

pujols5

1.) 28 Dec 2015 10:29:04
Marlins want Seager.

2.) 28 Dec 2015 14:17:44
I think the dodgers do okay in this deal, but it will never happen

That is not enough for fernandez, at least according to miami. the marlins then also have both prado and castellanos for third base

The tigers would then be worse, too, as they would now have holes at both second and third base.

3.) 28 Dec 2015 21:23:03
well put in seager for the marlins but keep kinsler and trade machado to the dodgers instead but then youd have to trade another player going to the dodgers to get puig

tigers gets:
lad = of y. puig
mia = 3b m. prado + '16 comp. a round pick (5)

dodgers gets:
mia = sp j. fernandez
det = 2b i. kinsler

marlins gets:
det = sp k. ziomek (6) + 3b n. castellanos
lad = sp j. de leon (3) + if c. seager (1) + rp j. rhame (19)

how about this? prado can be the tigers 3b while machado can be the 2b

marlins gain another good pitching arm in ziomek and instead of urias to the marlins, they get seager and de leon instead

dodgers problem to fix the short stop hole after this trade, theyd go and sign ian desmond to take over shortstop and they have a competitive team

(lineup for all 3 teams)

tigers =
c: j. mccann
1b: m. cabrera
2b: d. machado
ss: j. iglesias
3b: m. prado
lf: y. puig
cf: a. gose / c. maybin
rf: j. martinez
dh: v. martinez

tigers get better and their lineup is much better then before

dodgers =
c:
1b: a. gonzalez
2b: i. kinsler
ss: i. desmond
3b: j. turner
lf: c. crawford
cf: j. pederson
rf: a. ethier
(dh) : c. utley

utley is not the starter and micah johnson would be a platoon player for the infield

marlins =
c: j. realmuto / j. mathis
1b: j. bour
2b: d. gordon
ss: c. seager
3b: n. castellanos
lf: c. yelich
cf: m. ozuna
rf: g. stanton
(dh) : i. suzuki

hechavarria would be moved to backup infielder and get some starts at ss when seager takes over for when castellanos gets a day off

would this be better?

4.) 29 Dec 2015 05:34:31
The Marlins would only make a trade if all Urias, Seager, and Pederson were included plus more players, cookie.

27 Dec 2015 04:42:41
top 5 remaining free agents and where i think they can land

(1) of justin upton
los angeles angels

i chose the angels cause they do need an outfielder and upton can bring more thump to the lineup and form a lethal outfield combo with trout and calhoun but if not the angels the tigers can be in the market too (or the mets)

(2) of yoenis cespedes
detroit tigers

after reports of the tigers would wait for cespedes price to drop in order to make an offer and i see it happening as he liked detroit and the tigers still need a leftfielder and if he drops around $125 over 6 years, i think the tigers would take that (but to lure him back, they would have to offer a full no trade clause and/ or a player option for a 7th year

(3) 1b chris davis
seattle mariners

well, if not the orioles, i see the mariners as they need a first basemen since they got rid of morrison and trumbo and having only lind won't help but if this happens, imagine this lineup (c: zunino, 1b: davis, 2b: cano, ss: taylor, 3b: seager, lf: aoki cf: martin, rf: cruz, dh: lind) which could be a bad lineup to face for pitchers

(4) of alex gordon
st louis cardinals

well the cardinals lost heyward and going after a low cost outfielder that is not cespedes or upton would make sense for the cardinals and gordon since he would stay in missouri but move to st louis

(5) ss ian desmond
los angeles dodgers

well since the yankees got castro and the mets got cabrera, desmond needs a place where he can play shortstop and the only team i can see that would need a short stop is the dodgers which would allow them to move seager over to third where he could play better at

what do you guys think? who is in your top 5 remaining free agents and where do you think they would go.

pujols5

1.) 27 Dec 2015 08:57:27
If the Angels are getting an outfielder, I feel as though Gordon or Fowler are the more likely ones, Gordon left handed and Fowler a switch hitter have a much better on base percentage than Upton, and better defensively as well.

2.) 27 Dec 2015 15:24:57
The mariners lineup will be C;😠: ianetta 1st Davis 2nd Cano SS: Marte 3rd Seager LF: Aoki CF: Martin RF: Gutiarez DH: Cruz.

3.) 27 Dec 2015 15:25:45
What about Justin Turner?

4.) 27 Dec 2015 15:35:54
you would be lucky if you get even one of these correct.

5.) 27 Dec 2015 15:47:01
I don't know why there is an emoji in mine.

6.) 27 Dec 2015 21:24:49
I think Cespedes is most realistic. I think the Angels would go in a cheaper cost, most likely Gordon. I don't see Mariners paying for what Davis is asking. Desmond probably won't sign with the Dodgers, I still see him going to the Padres.

7.) 28 Dec 2015 05:48:14
ok. i only chose those teams cause i wasnt 100% known to a few teams needs and i would actually agree with desmond to the padres and i still see davis to the mariners due to the need at 1b (lind ain't the answer)

25 Dec 2015 17:50:41
im an angels fan but grew up a tigers fan and so i still follow them. they have done a great job this offseason and i feel they can do much more with a few trades and signings

(trade 1)
tigers gets: 3b a. beltre
rangers gets: sp a. kubitza (#7) + rp d. verhagen + c b. holaday + of t. collins

tigers add a veteran hitter that can be an upgrade at third over castellanos could and has a funny history with miggy so that can improve the clubhouse

rangers add 4 young players that can contribute in 2016, kubitza can be a backend starter and potentially pitch against his brother who is a third basemen for the angels, verhagen showed in 2015 that he can pitch well out of the bullpen, holaday can have more playing time with the rangers then the tigers and collins could also get more time and get some at bats when choo and hamilton are sitting out. plus all 4 of these players are from texas
======================================================================================================
(trade 2)
tigers gets:
bal = 2b j. schoop + '16 competitive balance lottery round b pick (5th)
lad = sp z. lee (19) + if k. farmer (#19) + of d. fields
orioles gets:
lad = of y. puig
det = 2b i. kinsler
dodgers gets:
det = sp a. sanchez
lad = rp m. givens (#6) + of d. stewert (#3)

tigers add a younger 2b who has a strong arm so a combo of him machado and iglesias at 2b/ss would make the tigers happy, they add a draft pick (these can be traded but only once) so they could sign a big free agent again and lose their 3rd round pick due to signing whomever (they gave up their 2nd rounder for signing zimmermann), then they also get a former top prospect in lee who still can be effective, farmer can be a useful utility player in the next few years (perhaps similar to brandon inge but better hitter) and fields returns to the tigers which he still has minor league options but was just outrighted off the roster

orioles add puig who can bolster the loss of davis (which i don't see him going back) and they also get kinsler who can also help the infield with walker taking over at first (hardy and kinsler are both from tucson. i think)

dodgers add the starter they need since grienke is gone and iwakuma ended not coming to the dodgers and he can be put in at the 2nd starter, givens can be a closer and gives the dodgers a cheaper and younger alternative then chapman since he could not be going to the dodgers and stewert who is a power hitting prospect who can play right away
======================================================================================================
(trade 3)
tigers gets:
sea = rp a. moore (#11) + if d. jackson (#22)
sd = sp l. allen (#19) + '16 competitive balence lottery round b pick (1st)
mariners gets:
sd = sp j. shields
det = dh v. martinez
padres gets:
det = 3b n. castellanos
sea = sp e. diaz (#4) + rp d. rollins (#24) + if t. smith (#23)

tigers add a pitcher who has good command and can help in 2016, jackson who is a speedy and good fielder for the future, allen who (like jackson) was drafted this past year and has played well to move up in baseball quickly and also another pick that can be helpful for signing a top free agent

mariners add a #2 starter thay can help bolster the rotation that already has hernandez, walker, iwakuma and paxton plus they add a dh who can also play first since they traded morrison and trumbo

padres add castellanos who can help at third and the 3 prospects from the mariners can help the padres farm system that was basically almost stripped cause of the big trades they did last offseason
======================================================================================================
(free agency) (*minor league deal with 5/14/16 opt out and heavy incentives)
- sp johan santana*
1 year $2.5 million + $2.5 million incentives + $5.0 million club option for 2nd year
- sp mike minor*
1 year $5.0 million + $2.5 million incentives + $10.0 million club option for 2nd year
- rp matt thornton*
1 year $2.0 million + $3.0 million club option for 2nd year
- rp neftali feliz
1 year $4.0 million + $1.0 million buyout on a $6.00 million club option for 2nd year
- rp sueng hwan oh
3 year $20.0 million + $5.0 million mutual option for 4th year
- rp greg holland
2 year $10.0 million + $10.0 million club option for 2nd year (heavily backloaded contract)
- c jordan pacheco*
1 year $1.0 million + $1.5 million club option for 2nd year
- if chris davis
6 year $125.0 million + $25.0 million club option for 7th year or $25.0 million deferred for 10 years
- if kelly johnson*
1 year $2.0 million + $3.0 million club option for 2nd year
- of guillermo heredia*
1 year $1.0 million + $1.5 million club option for 2nd year
- of dominic brown
1 year $4.0 million + $6.0 million vesting option for 2nd year
- of lazaro armenteros
8 year $40.0 million + $10.0 million club option for 9th year

most of these are low risk signings but players like santana, minor, feliz, oh, holland, brown, davis and armenteros are the higher reward signings

santana can be effective if he's 100%, minor can also be effective and be in the rotation, feliz was good in his last few games and he's still young so he still has potential, oh can be really good and be like uehara but throw harder, holland will make only $2.5 million in the first year since he's out for the year and then it would be $7.5 million next year with a $10.0 million player option, brown would be a low risk signing and can be effective and also be a better choice then cespedes, gordon or upton and davis would be the power bat they would be looking for and then armenteros is only 16 years old but he is already getting comparisons to bo jackson and willie mays with plus speed, plus power and plus fielding so he can be the future star for the tigers when miggy is gone

Mariners don't need another starter.

2.) 25 Dec 2015 18:05:57
Way to much going on here. And they won't spend all that money either.

3.) 26 Dec 2015 05:23:57
they give up money (kinsler, sanchez and martinez) so spending all of that is not out of the question with getting rid of those 3 contracts. recieving beltre would kind of eliminate martinez's annual contract in 2016 and they can afford all of the deals i came up with cause beltre is a free agent after 2016 and the young players don't make $5,000,000 combined which is half of kinsler's deal in 2016

so yes, they can afford it

as for the mariners not needing another starter, having shields into the rotation, is not a bad idea, they are in a division that had the angels get better, the astros are better, the rangers are talented and the a's are usually good with pitching and isn't bad either

their rotation would be:

1) hernandez (hernandez)
2) shields (iwakuma)
3) iwakuma (walker)
4) walker (miley)
5) miley (paxton)

which rotation is better? i'd take the first one

i think they can trade paxton to get another bat or 1-3 decent prospects to help with a somewhat bad farm system. plus this is a better rotation to have then if it was with paxton

plus to win a division you got to have a good rotation and defense. with this the mariners can beat the angels, astros, rangers and a's.

that is a whole lot to read, and it is not realistic.

Adam Dunn isn't getting in.

2.) 29 Dec 2015 16:52:30
He will eventually.

3.) 29 Dec 2015 19:16:07
No. He won't.

If Adam Dunn gets into the Hall of Fame, Baseball fans need to form a mob and go to Cooperstown and do whatever it takes to stop it.

He would be one of, if not the worst players to ever get voted in.

4.) 29 Dec 2015 19:25:21
He has a shot in my opinion. He and Ortiz and Martinez will be the 3 full time DHs in the HOF. Trust me it will happen.

5.) 29 Dec 2015 23:13:47
Crazysull, it will never, ever, ever, ever happen.

I would put money on Adam Dunn not making it in the Hall of Fame.

6.) 30 Dec 2015 01:28:59
Martinez: .312 AVG/ 514 2B/ 309 HR/ 1261 RBI
Ortiz: .284/ 584 2B/ 503 HR/ 1641 RBI
Dunn: .237/ 334 2B/ 462 HR/ 1168 RBI

Dunn isn' on theame wavelengthas the other two, if Carlos Delgado can't stay on the ballot for more than one year Adam Dunn shouldn't get a single vote.

7.) 30 Dec 2015 16:22:48
Dunn, Moyer and Wakefield will never get in. I also have some serious doubts about Konerko, who has very similar stats at the same position as Delgado who has been previously mentioned. Honestly if Crime Dog McGriff only got 11% of the vote last year how does Konerko get in at all. I would also count Magglio and Edmonds out as well. Great stats and great players but I think both miss the cut. If you are eliminating PED users, I don't think Manny gets in either.

8.) 30 Dec 2015 20:24:28
I doubt manny gets in but Kenarko and Dunn will get in and so will Edmonds.

9.) 30 Dec 2015 21:41:04
If Adam Dunn makes it in, it'll be on some clerical error and it'll get fixed within 24 hours.

Not a chance. Quit suggesting it. Move on.

10.) 31 Dec 2015 00:15:47
Dunn will get in eventually he has earned it,

11.) 31 Dec 2015 04:07:19
CS16, just wondering why you are so sure that Adam Dunn will make the HOF? What stats, abilities, clubhouse winning presence? I truly am just interested in why you really think he will definitely be in? Convince me.

12.) 31 Dec 2015 17:48:50
Ray, he doesn't know.

He said it and now can't accept he's wrong.

29 Dec 2015 05:45:44
my top 10 in this years hall of fame with % of chances in ballot voting on getting in (my reasons for picking them)

1) of ken griffey jr (100%)
2) c mike piazza (85%)
3) rp trevor hoffman (80%)
4) of jim edmonds (75%)
5) ss alan trammell (75%)
6) 1b jeff bagwell (55%)
7) of tim raines (50%)
8) rp lee smith (35%)
9) dh edgar martinez (30%)
10) sp mike mussina (30%)

i don't have sosa, bonds, clemens or mcgwire as they are proven to have used ped's but lied about it at some point or at least we all know that so i believe they don't get my vote but at least bonds and clemens may get over 25% but i hope not

griffey jr could be the first 100% vote getter or at least the highest of all time and he's been one of my favorites of all time and does have the nicest swing i have ever seen, piazza gets in cause he was so close last year and there's not many elite shoe ins this year so he should get the 2nd place vote in most cases, hoffman gets in cause he was the saves champ (until future hall of famer mariano rivera did it), edmonds was one of the best fielding outfielder in his era and he gets in cause he is a good player and person, trammell gets in cause (come on his last chance) he should get in due to lack of elite shoe ins outside my top 4 but there won't be 5 voters in this year but 4 could happen with trammell moving up to 4th on my list, bagwell was near 60% last year but he may drop slightly from 56% to nearly 50% and then raines, smith, martinez and mussina has potential to get more votes but cause of having griffey jr, jim edmonds and trevor hoffman added to the ballot, that hurts their chances of improving.

Hoffman won't get 80%, especially not on his first ballot.

the only problem is : nationals get their closer

they have their closer which in my mind should be storen but papelbon is a baby and would only be a closer so getting melancon would only enrage storen and he would want to get traded.

this could be a decent trade but i would say the yankees should get a low level prospect to be named later as well as miller should get 3 mid-high profile prospects while gardner could get roughly 2 mid-high prospects but adding both together, they should add a player to be named later in this deal.

what if the yankees chose to put chapman in the rotation and keep miller and betances cause those 2 seems to do the job all by themselves last year so why screw that chemistry up

the yankees need a starter and whynot move chapman to the rotation.

the closer situation is not entirely cleared up. storen was mad that he got bumped cause papelbon only wanted to close. you don't trade for chapman unless he's the closer or even a starter (which was discussed by the reds at some point this year)

the outfield situation is the same for the yankees, they get rid of gardner to get puig. they would add 2 guys who has had domestic violence issues (puig and chapman) not to mention they have a-roid

the only thing i see is the dodgers could get strasburg to the nationals for puig and a minor league pitcher (maybe de leon) which the nationals are wanting an outfielder

nationals gets: sp jose de leon (#3) + of yasiel puig
dodgers gets: sp stephen strasburg + if minor leaguer to be named later

that seems better.
