Pirates get a good lefty that has been pitched well this year for the Red Sox. Instead of flat-out adding another lefty reliever, they swap their own lefty (Wilson) who has good upside for a younger guy. Wilson's fastball reaches into the high 90's. To make up for the performance difference this season the Pirates also package their #8 prospect of the season outfielder Harold Ramirez who hits for contact and has great speed on the base paths, and has good range in the outfield.
Pirates can then look to add another reliever, specifically Bastardo of the Phillies or Benoit of the Padres.
In a slumping year for the Red Sox, this trade adds a younger reliever who still has potential to become a better pitcher and add a high potential outfielder to their farm system.
This is not a good proposal solely for the fact that the Pirates would not give up their NO. 5 prospect for a rental pitcher most likely in his last year (maybe two) of baseball.
Pirates would not give up Hanson as they believe him to be the next long-term short stop.
