Yanks are not giving up Torres or Frazier. Any package starts with Mateo. Will give shot internally to Adams or Caleb Smith before giving up Frazier or Torres. NO THANKS!

Frazier or Torres would be necessary for someone like Sale; Gray is not Sale. Not even close.

Gray isn't Sale, Correct. But he's comparable to Quintana who just brought back the 5th best prospect in baseball. So yes, it takes Fraizer or Torres.

The only reason the Cubs gave 8th prospect for Quintana is desperation. Win-now team. The have aging staff with Arrieta FA after season. They desperately needed Quintana. Braves, Yanks, Dodgers and Astros wouldn't give up their top prospect for Q. Cubs were willing to overpay. Gray WILL NOT get Torres or Frazier. The best I think they get is Tucker/ Hous or Mateo/ NYY. Martes, Torres and Frazier staying.

Arguably the best executive in sports (a guy who was literally voted the worlds best leader by Fortune) gave up his best prospect and more for a guy out of desperation?

The yankees just gave up Rutherford+ for 2 good relievers and a rental.

Starting pitching comes with a price. You think you're getting Sonny Gray for Mateo (middle infielder who hit .240 in high A ball this year)?

Gray is not Sale. Not even close. Nor is Gray as good as Quintana. Check the stats over the last few years.

Exactly gray is bumping his value with some good starts this year but he is not in the Chris sale Kershaw class he's a number2 in a good team and ace in bad teams.

Not saying he's Sale. His numbers are more volatile than Quintana's because of his injury last year but his career numbers are right on par with Q.

I'm actually not even saying the yankees should make the trade but if they indeed wanted Gray, it starts with one of those two guys.

Sale was traded in the offseason.
Gray will likely be traded at mid-season.

Mid-season trades always command more than off-season trades. Thus, it's not ridiculous to expect a Gray trade to look something similar to the Sale trade.
