White Sox & Dodgers

White Sox Get:
Matt Kemp DH (2 Years, $43 Million)
Mitchell White RHP (#7)
Caleb Ferguson LHP (#21)
Andrew Toles OF

Dodgers Get:
Andre Davis LHP

The White Sox agree to take approximately $28 Million of the $43 Million owed to Kemp through 2019 and he DHs on the south side for the next 2 years while ideally never having to pick up a glove again.

The Dodgers allievete some of their burden for taking on Kemp's contract and they ship the Sox White who is a highly regarded right hander, Ferguson who is a young 38th round left hander who broke out over the last couple of years, and Andrew Toles who has hit every where he has played and has good speed but LAD has no spot for him. M. White has approx. a 50 FV which is worth only $14 Million according to FanGraphs and Ferguson is at approx. 45 FV which is worth $13 Million.

Toles is the guy Hahn demands as a kicker bc he knows LAD won't play him and they have a heavy incentive to get rid of as much of Kemp's $$$ as possible. He now has a chance to be the everyday CF in Chicago.

This just isn't good. Took Dodgers much less to move more salary in braves trade.

The Dodgers aren't near the luxury tax. They'll likely just DFA Kemp.

Besides, all of this assumes Rick Hahn is smart enough to con the Dodgers front office into sending not one, but TWO extremely valuable pieces his way in exchange for a salary dump.

You clearly pay zero attention to how the Dodgers operate as a front office.

Ok, they aren't trading to get under the threshold now, per say, but they likely are still trying to add both now and probably at the deadline. They have been pretty adamant about staying under it (as have other teams this offseason), so don't give me your "rich teams' story. Right now they are only $6 Million below the threshold with arb-projections, so yes, they are near the tax.

To get someone to take that money will take 2 valuable pieces. The FVs match up with the money if you read my post.

And no, in the Dodgers trade with the Braves, they had to take Matt Kemp's contract so only Charlie Culberson was needed as the kicker. The Braves save money down the road and it got the Dodgers farther away from the tax this year.
