Tampa Bay sends RP Brad Boxberger to Washington, where he takes over the closer role.

The Nationals send LH reliever Enny Romero to the Rays, where he will gives Tampa another lefty in the bullpen besides Xavier Cedeno.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 19 Feb 2017 22:34:10
Don't see the rays doing this, they had Romero the last two years, and he hasn't pitched well for them. Don't see them trading boxberger for him.

2.) 20 Feb 2017 00:41:34
So the Nationals are going to send Enny Romero, who they just acquired from Tampa Bay, back to Tampa Bay?

The Rays got rid of Romero because they needed his roster spot. So I don't see them taking him back and giving up a better reliever as well.

3.) 20 Feb 2017 01:47:56
The rays just DFA'd Romero then (I may be wrong) sold him to WAS.

4.) 20 Feb 2017 03:25:41
Um so a guy who they sent to Washington as a DFA a couple weeks ago for a better and more established reliever?

5.) 20 Feb 2017 14:24:03
My point is that Washington is loaded to win this season, but the bullpen looks to be an issue. Boxberger is on the short list of guys who could go to D. C., close games, and settle the pen.

The trade itself has flaws; the reasoning is sound.

Thanks, guys.

6.) 20 Feb 2017 17:35:42
The reasoning sucks, the rays don't want Romero.

7.) 20 Feb 2017 23:56:49
Sure, it makes great sense for Washington, but good trades make sense for both teams, and there's no reason for the rays to do this. If a good trade makes sense for one team and not the other, I have a lot of pirates trades I would love to post.

8.) 21 Feb 2017 02:33:58
The Nationals should trade Bryce Harper to the Dodgers for cash.

The Dodgers need an OF.

The reasoning is sound, but the trade has flaws.

9.) 21 Feb 2017 18:31:34
Exposfan the reasoning isn't sound, for it too be sound it needs to make sense for both teams.

10.) 21 Feb 2017 22:45:51
I was mocking his defense of his post.

11.) 23 Mar 2017 13:19:06
Not only do I think this could be a good trade -- but it's really funny because when you mentioned Xavier Cedeno something clicked. He used to be a National!

10 trades that need to happen -

White Sox send SP Jose Quintana to Pittsburgh for SP Tyler Glasnow, RHP Mitch Keller, and 3B Ke'Bryan Hayes. Sox continue rebuild, while Bucs get their No. 2 SP.

White Sox also send RP David Robertson to Washington, while the Nationals ship OF Nick Banks and P Austin Voth to Chicago. Nats get their closer, Sox add talent.

White Sox also trade 3B Todd Frazier to the Mets for OF Brandon Nimmo. Mets cannot count on David Wright, and have OF depth to spare. Nimmo can start immediately in Chicago.

Mets then deal OF Jay Bruce to Toronto for OF Dalton Pompey. Blue Jays fill out their OF with Bruce, while Mets can take a look at Pompey in CF and give him a chance to reboot his career.

Pirates trade OF Andrew McCutchen to Baltimore for RP Brad Brach and SP Wade Miley. Cutch takes over in RF for O's to revive his career, while Brach bolsters the Pittsburgh pen and Miley adds a veteran arm to the rotation. That also opens a spot for Austin Meadows in Pittsburgh.

Twins swap 2B Brian Dozier to LA, while Dodgers ship SP Jose deLeon and 2B Willie Calhoun to Minnesota. Dodgers solidify the infield, Twins get a future rotation linchpin.

Cardinals trade 1B Matt Adams to Washington for C Pedro Severino and SS Carter Kieboom. St. Louis clears a little bench space and adds two good prospects, while Nats pair Adams with Zimmerman at 1B.

____________

Some of these have been discussed, some have not, but all make some sense for each team involved. All may need a tweak, but all answer needs for each team involved.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 22 Dec 2016 15:13:49
McCutchen for Brach and Miley is the worst trade i have ever seen. and the Mets would need to give up more for Frazier.

2.) 22 Dec 2016 15:48:34
These are so bad.

3.) 22 Dec 2016 19:32:15
Didn't read except for the Pirates trades which are horrendous especially the cutch deal.

4.) 22 Dec 2016 20:12:32
That McCutchen trade. Yikes.

Also Dozier will command more.

5.) 22 Dec 2016 21:43:56
The Bucs would deal Cutch to get rid of the payroll burden.

As I said, all of these would likely need tweaked. They're all discussion starters, gents. Merry Christmas.

6.) 24 Dec 2016 13:17:25
No from T. O.

03 Dec 2016 20:12:33
Simple but effective for both teams.

Washington sends SP Joe Ross to LA for OF Yasiel Puig.

The Nationals get another bat for their lineup, and Puig gets a fresh start.

Dodgers have a new No. 3 SP behind Kershaw and Maeda, and finally pull the plug on Puig while getting a good, young arm to slot in ahead of Kazmir and Urias.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 03 Dec 2016 21:02:44
Huge overpay for Puig considering Ross is one of the main peices being discussed in a potential Cutch deal and even with Cutchs down year last time I checked Cutch is 10+ times better than Puig so Nats don't even bother considering this trade.

2.) 03 Dec 2016 22:04:35
Nationals won't give up Ross for a wager (Puig)

3.) 04 Dec 2016 14:26:58
Puig is 25 and has a reasonable contract and lots of potential. He could still pan out as a very solid player if someone can get his attitude in check.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 16:12:59
Still I don't see it happening the Nationals will take Cutch.

The worst farm system in baseball belongs to the Angels. While they won't admit it, the Angels would be better off trading Mike Trout. The team best in position to make such a deal is Trout's boyhood faves, the Yankees.

The Angels send Trout to New York. He re-energizes the fan base for America's most successful sports franchise, and all of MLB. Matt Shoemaker goes to to help fill out the rotation.

The Yankees send a load to LA, including OF Clint Frazier, SS Gleyber Torres, RHP Domingo Acevedo, OF Blake Rutherford, RHP James Kaprielian, and RHP Dillon Tate. That's six of the Yankees' top 11 prospects, many of whom were obtained for Chapman and Miller this year. But it leaves the Yanks' young base of Trout, Judge, Sanchez and Bird intact, and gives new hope to Angels fans.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 03 Dec 2016 21:19:14
The Angels will tell the Yankees to pound sand.

You aren't getting Trout without giving up young, controllable MLB talent. Honestly, this might not even land Chris Sale.

2.) 03 Dec 2016 21:32:24
I think the A's will want a couple ready now prospects, a current young allstar +

it will be very hard for teams to give up most of their top prospects for Trout. It's just not that easy.

3.) 04 Dec 2016 02:02:26
Stop with the trade Trout nonsense. Just STOP. There is NO amount of prospects worth Mike Trout. The Angels problem is #14. That would be the 1st step in the right direction. Your trade proposal is a joke.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 03:22:53
Red Sox Guy. You are hilarious. This isn't going to be a remake of the Babe Ruth trade the idiot red soxs made decades ago. you don't trade franchise players. angels have money coming off the books and they are no longer signing bad contracts. Trout if you haven't noticed is a player that is a person that isn't about being selfish like most players. he is humble and respectful. The Angels would only trade him if they thought he would leave but the Angels will sign to another extension before he even gets close to free agency. He is a player that knows that baseball is a lot bigger than him and he would never put himself to come across as a guy that is bigger than the game. Trout will be on one team only the Angels where he will retire and go into the Hall of Fame as a Angel player. Yankee fans move on. The Angels will never trade Trout. You do not trade once in a lifetime players.

5.) 04 Dec 2016 14:31:49
Guys, you are delusional if you think a team won't trade a star. Trout is the best player in baseball playing for one of the worst organizations. He will not finish his career there; I would bet an exorbitant sum of money on that.
If he is not traded, he will simply opt out. He will not sign another extension. The Mariners alone traded guys such as A Rod and Junior. It happens. If you think otherwise, you're either not too bright or about 10 years old.

6.) 04 Dec 2016 14:34:19
That said, no, I do not think the Angels will trade Trout any time soon. They're too dumb. The Angels brass thinks they're contenders; they're not. Sad situation in LA. But the offer I put out there is probably fair and would be a start in rebuilding the Angels from the joke they've become.

03 Dec 2016 19:58:01
Andrew McCutchen and Antonio Bastardo move to Baltimore, Zach Britton and Ubaldo Jimenez go to Pittsburgh, along with $3 million.

Pirates have OF depth with Marte, Polanco, Meadows and Bell. Britton takes over closer role that allows team to deal Watson to address other needs, and Ubaldo gives innings in the rotation.

Orioles move Cutch to an OF corner and the middle of their potent lineup. Their bullpen will be fine with guys such as Bastardo, Brach, O'Day and Givens still on hand.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 03 Dec 2016 20:31:43
Ubaldo Jimenez is arguably the worst pitcher in baseball. So he brings down Brittons value significantly, Pirates won't want a closer they want young controllable pitchers. O's would be dumb to trade Britton for an older player if they trade him it will be for prospects.

Overall I give this a F not good at all makes no sense for either side.

2.) 03 Dec 2016 21:20:50
Trade one year of Britton, who is coming off his best season yet, for two years of McCutchen, who is coming off his worst season yet.

Somehow, I think that one year of Britton is more valuable.

3.) 03 Dec 2016 22:15:44
Pirates are looking for prospects.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 16:08:21
Cutch still has lots of value. He will bounce back. And Pittsburgh wouldn't mind picking up a veteran SP if it's at a reasonable cost. Watch: They'll pick up a guy such as Rubby de la Rosa.

5.) 04 Dec 2016 17:09:09
This is terrrible.

Here are the top 10 free agents left on the board, and a prediction on where each signs:

Edwin Encarnacion - Texas is in win-now mode, and having lost Moreland and Desmond to free agency, could use a hitter. EE is the best one.

Mark Trumbo - The Rox made sense before signing Desmond; now, Trumbo goes back to Baltimore.

Ivan Nova - Pittsburgh liked what they saw, and bring Nova back to fill innings.

Jose Bautista - Toronto wouldn't have to give up a draft pick, something no other team wants to do. Blue Jays get Joey Bats back cheap.

Jason Hammel - Yankees wanted to add a FA SP. They do, but then deal Gardner to keep below the luxury tax.

Matt Wieters - Does no one want Wieters? Atlanta steps up to sign him.

Michael Saunders - San Francisco could use a veteran bat in the OF, and gets one relatively cheap.

Mike Napoli - Cleveland loved Napoli, so the Tribe brings him back.

Greg Holland - Washington is a good team with uncertainty in the bullpen. Holland is at least part of the answer.

Travis Wood - Typical Billy Beane: Oakland brings in Wood with plans to flip him at the deadline.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 21 Dec 2016 05:35:17
I agree with several, and disagree with a few. You explain yourself well.

I agree especially with Encarnacion. Texas makes a lot of sense and really need to do something to keep up with Houston at this point.

I disagree with Saunders. Giants aren't going to spend 9-12M on a risk, especially when they are already over the luxury tax. They seem content with using Williamson/ Parker as a platoon, or finding a cost-controlled player via trade. I can't see them taking on too much more cash, though.

This will give the haters something to hate on.

Some of you say Mike Trout will stay his entire career with the Angels. That is hysterical. The Angels would get a huge haul for Trout right now, since he is still under team control for the next four seasons. Problem is, with his big paycheck, not many teams can afford him. Here's one that can:

The New York Mets get Trout and closer Huston Street. The Mets make a splash by getting the best player in the game to counter the Yankees' youth movement, and take advantage of their organizational depth.

The LA Angels receive SPs Jaob deGrom and Robert Gsellman, pitcher Rafael Montero and Gabriel Ynoa, INFs Gavin Cecchini and T. J. Rivera, and OFs Juan Lagares and Brandon Nimmo, This restocks the Angels with young talent, gives them a No. 1 SP in deGrom, other fresh arms to rejuvenate the staff, and lineup options with guys such as Rivera and Lagares.

Red Sox Guy

1.) 26 Nov 2016 17:43:43
not even close enough from NY.

i bet LA demands syndergaard be in the deal over degrom. and even then LA would want every good young prospect from NY.

2.) 27 Nov 2016 14:28:02
Thor and Wheeler will also be added to this along with Conforto and Rosario and Smith and probably more as well.

3.) 29 Nov 2016 21:41:35
Thor >>>>>> better potential than deGrom.

Nah, it's just juvenile. exposfan, if you were just having fun, no problem. I get that. But it's a lame joke.

If I hadn't gotten the joke, I would have said something like "the Pirates don't need another OF with Polanco, Marte, Cutch and Meadows in Pittsburgh. "

Instead, I just stated my perception that you probably tried to make others laugh in school - last week, of course - and instead, found out that you weren't a joker, just a joke.

But you believe whatever you want.

When you post something like that, you know what you're going to get.

You must love verbal abuse. You were probably the kid that made a "kick me" sign, then stuck it on your own back.

Chi Sox, you are right. I stand corrected. It makes sense for your team.

But, it makes no sense at all for Tampa. The Rays have struggled to generate runs for years, and those three guys have some potential.

The Rays also have plenty of SP, with Archer, Cobb, Odorizzi, Snell, Andriese, Erasmo and Honeywell on hand.
