There are many trades ideas mentioned involving Quintana to the Pirates. Realistically speaking I highly doubt that the White Sox will ship Quintana unless Austin Meadows is involved. That being said, if the PIT acquire Quintana, it would mean they are contending, and as a result, PIT could also package a reliever such as Nate Jones.

Chicago acquires: Austin Meadows, Mitch Keller, Adam Frazier, Luis Escobar

Pirates receive: Jose Quintana, Nate Jones

Nate Jones fits right into PIT's bullpen and provides them with a potential closer/ setup man.

Makes some sense.

I think Pitt still deals Cutch.

2.) 22 Dec 2016 14:27:03
I think that package gets you Q alone. But Nate Jones is the most valuable piece in the pen for Chicago. He's coming at a steeper price than Robertson, Putnam or jennings.

3.) 22 Dec 2016 15:04:36
Quintana alone is worth way more than that in order to get him it'd take something like Glasnow OR Taillon, and Newman and Keller, add in Jones and you're adding 2-3 more of an organizations top 12 prospects.

4.) 22 Dec 2016 16:16:52
Mamba- If you're saying Nate Jones is worth 2 of an organization's top 12 prospects, then why is Doolittle worth "WAY WAY WAY MORE" than that? That's almost exactly what I proposed.

If you look, Jones and Doolittle are nearly identical players in career IP, ERA, ERA+, strikeouts, and strikeouts/ 9. Both are under team control for 4 more seasons at reasonable salaries, with Jones' being the cheaper of the 2.

5.) 22 Dec 2016 19:33:43
Meadows is not getting traded especially with Keller.

6.) 23 Dec 2016 02:18:17
@BuccoFan21 - look at what Boston gave up to get Sale. You think BOS wanted to give up Moncada and Kopech? They gave up talent to get talent.

CLE, COL, and CWS

What each time gives up
CLE: Fransisco Meija, Brady Aiken, Mike Clevinger
COL: Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez
CWS: Jose Quintana, Dan Jennings, Daniel Robertson

What each team gets
CLE: Daniel Robertson, Charlie Blackmon
COL: Jose Quintana, Dan Jennings
CWS: Fransisco Meija, Brady Aiken, Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez, Mike Clevinger

Perspective from each team
CLE: Fransisco Meija, Brady Aiken, and Mike Clevinger for Charlie Blackmon and Daniel Robertson
COL: Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Hoffman, and German Marquez for Jose Quintana and Dan Jennings
CWS: Jose Quintana, Daniel Robertson, and Dan Jennings for Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez, Fransisco Meija, Brady Aiken, and Mike Clevinger.

1. Its David Robertson.
2. Cleveland would never do a 3 team trade that involved sending their top prospects to division rival.
3. Cleveland Doesn't need Robertson.

2.) 13 Dec 2016 14:27:12
laughable---from Cleveland.

A highly unlikely but potential three team deal between Colorado, White Sox, and Rangers

In this trade, the Rockies would get an ace, the White Sox would get loads of young talent, and Texas gets a high quality CF who replaces Beltran

What each team gives up
Colorado: Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez
Chicago: Jose Quintana, Daniel Robertson
Texas: Jurickson Profar, Joey Gallo
What each team gets
Rockies: Jose Quintana, Daniel Robertson
White Sox: Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez, Jurickson Profar, Joey Gallo
Rangers: Charlie Blackmon

From every team's perspective
TEX: Jurickson Profar and Joey Gallo for Charlie Blackmon
CWS: Jose Quintana and Daniel Robertson for Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez, Jurickson Profar, and Joey Gallo
COL: Charlie Blackmon, Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez for Jose Quintana and Daniel Robertson

This was a shower thought of mine. Apologies if it's insane but maybe a possibility?

WannaBeFutureGM

1.) 12 Dec 2016 16:54:25
Probably not because the White Sox are going to get the most out of their trades so a three team deal isn't likely and the Rangers just resigned Gomez and I expect him to be in CF, I can see the White Sox trading Abreu to the Rangers for Profar and or Gallo along with Deshields Jr. And prospects. The Rangers outfield is basically set with Choo Gomez Mazara and Dehields and Gallo is also able to play some OF along with Rua. So I just don't see this happening and I see the White Sox trading Quintana to the Astros and Robertson to one of the following: Nat's, Marlins or Dodgers (in other words he will go to one of the teams that doesn't land Janson)

2.) 12 Dec 2016 16:56:26
Plus if Quintana goes to the Roxs then I would have to imagine Dahl going back to Chicago.

3.) 12 Dec 2016 17:17:39
you're right about it being highly unlikely, but i have to say this, there is zero reason for the Rangers to be in this trade.

COL and CWS trade

* Rockies have apparently inquired about Todd Frazier

*Colorado is also looking to improve bullpen

Todd Frazier, Daniel Robertson to COL

Jeff Hoffman, Peter Lambert, Mike Nikorak to CWS.

WannaBeFutureGM

1.) 12 Dec 2016 16:55:50
There is no room really in COL for Frazier they have Nolan at 3rd and just signed Desmond to play 1st. I guess if they move Desmond back to center and trade Blackmon Frazier could play first but I just don't see that happening.

2.) 12 Dec 2016 17:15:45
Arenado?

3.) 13 Dec 2016 01:31:41
If they can deal an OF, they can move Desmond to the outfield and put Frazier at first.

CWS and LAD

CWS gets
Alex Verdugo
Yadier Alvarez

LAD gets
Todd Frazier
Daniel Robertson.

1.) 11 Dec 2016 14:19:18
Not enough going to White Sox.

2.) 11 Dec 2016 17:29:34
IMO, the Sox should receive much more.

3.) 11 Dec 2016 22:45:49
Nah that's even.

4.) 12 Dec 2016 04:07:40
Zammer a 40 home run hitter and good closer for a couple of prospects is not even at all.

5.) 12 Dec 2016 12:40:28
@mambaGOAT Frazier only has one year left on his contract. What additional prospects do you think sld be added to CWS?

6.) 12 Dec 2016 17:00:22
The White sox would probably ask for prospects close to MLB ready and they are also more likely to ask for position players given the amount of pitching prospects they have already acquired. I would not be surprised if Toels or Thompson was In this trade.

Colorado Seattle trade

this isn't a trade that impacts the MLB clubs but a chance for two prospects to perhaps revive their careers in new organizations

Seattle gets
Mike Nicorak

Colorado gets
Alex Jackson

both taken out of high school in the first round; both haven't lived up to expectations so far.

WannaBeFutureGM

1.) 01 Nov 2016 21:39:56
"Revive their careers"

Nikorak is 20 and has played a season and a half.

2.) 02 Nov 2016 18:56:26
And Jackson is almost 21, he dealt with injuries for a lot of 2015, 2016 he was healthy and showed a lot of power. No way either team does this.

22 Oct 2016 03:08:15
Edwin Encarnacion has primarily been rumored to join either BOS or TOR. I think that Seattle could use him as well. Thoughts?

WannaBeFutureGM

1.) 22 Oct 2016 13:15:44
A number of teams could use him. It is entirely way to early to predict where he could wind up. However, I don't him or Bautista returning to Toronto.

2.) 22 Oct 2016 14:37:40
I think Cleveland could use him to DH with Napoli an FA and getting old.

3.) 22 Oct 2016 16:31:49
Napoli and Encarncion are one year apart in age, your argument is pointless.

4.) 22 Oct 2016 19:44:26
But just one extra year of Edwin could help them.

5.) 23 Oct 2016 05:38:54
What? The age difference doesn't matter, players can sign a similar multi year deal and a younger guy can retire before an older guy.

I disagree with the fact that PIT won't trade Meadows. CWS has the upper hand and I'm confident they'll refuse to discuss Quintana without Meadows being involved. Secondly, if PIT gets Quintana, I doubt Cutch gets traded because acquiring Quintana would mean they are in win mode, not rebuilding mode.

I think that they are in a tough spot. They unloaded their farm system last year to acquire Miller and don't have too many pieces to acquire someone who has the caliber to make an instant impact.
