Blue Jays-Astros trade:

Blue Jays get: A. J Reed

Astros get: Edwin Encarnasion

The Jays get someone to add to their power lineup and someone who is young too.

The Astros get a power hitting first baseman who they can re-sign since they have more money available than the Jays, and they could then move White to 3rd which is their most unstable position right now.

And after Collibello went down with the 80-game ban (I believe his story though) they will let Reed develope more so they will play Smoke at 1st and they will need someone to play DH or another position moving one of their weaker defenders or older players to the DH spot, which leads me to this deal:

Blue Jays get: CoCo Crisp

Athletics get: Carl Wise

Crisp could move into the outfield and move Bautista to DH or just slot Crisp in at DH, Crisp also gives them a better lead off option and offers some power too.

Oakland gets a young middle infield prospect that the Jays don't need at the moment and it won't be a major loss, a year of an aging CoCo won't cost them too much but it will be worth it. And with Valencia on the DL Wise gives the A's another good option to turn too when needed.

Jays lineup:
1. Crisp DH
2. Donaldson 3rd
3. Joy Bats RF
4. Tulo SS
5. Smoke 1st
6. Martin C
7. Saunders LF
8. Goins 2nd
9. Pillar

Bench:
1. Barney INF
2. Thole C
3. Carrera OF
4. Dominguez 3rd/ 1st (will be sent down when Travis returns)

2017 lineup:
1. Pillar CF
2. Donaldson 3rd
3. Joey Bats RF (re-signs)
4. Tulo SS
5. Reed DH
6. Smoke 1st
7. Martin C
8. Travis 2nd
9. Saunders LF

Bench:
1. Correra/ Cicilinii/ Free agent OF
2. Thole/ free agent C
3. Goins INF
4. Barney/ Domingez/ Free agent INF

No way the Astros give up Reed for a rental.

The Jays are built to win now. This will not happen.

The Astros have the ability to re-sign E. E unlike the Blue Jays, and this will help the Jays win now and help them win in the future as well.

How does this help the Jays win now? Encarnacion will likely be in the Majors all year long and will be fine. Reed isn't even out of the minors yet.

E. E is a key pice for them yes, but since they are so deep, they can absorb the loss of him that's all, and it adds a guy who is the closest comparison to Stanton in terms of power and that is hard to do. that's all, and the Jays might as well get something for him since he seems unwilling to re-sign with them.

Which of the players from the Blue Jays "deep" bench would replace Encarnacion?

Carrera? Thole? Barney?

You could play those 3 for 162 games, I doubt they combine for 20 home runs, or come anywhere near the production of Encarnacion.

The E. E trade is a pure joke, but I like the idea to bring Crips as a better leadoff hitter and a better defender in RF than Bautista.

They could play E. E as their primary 1st base but will increase the risk of injury for him.

Ideal world, trade E. E+Dickey+Thole for a stud SP and than add a leadoff hitter playing RF . but it will not happen because we are not playing MLB the show.

when you think of it anything could happen to aj reed he isn't a developed player and he may be good in the minors but bad in the majors like matt hague encarnacion on the other hand has actually accomplished a lot with a couple of 40 homerun seasons.
