Why it makes sense for the Mariners: They are a left handed heavy lineup. Their OF needs a balance of both lefties and righties and both Puig and Kendrick can help balance it.

Why it makes sense for the Dodgers: They are able to let go of Puig, who seems to have issues with the Dodgers. In the process of letting go of Puig, they are also able to dump Kendrick's hefty contract. In the process they pickup a underrated relief pitcher whos had sucess so far in the big leagues.

I think the Dodgers says 'Thanks, but no thanks' on this one. IMHO Puig > Zych + Smith.

Good grief is this awful. Seth Smith is 33 and Tony Zych is a middle reliever. I think Puig is ridiculously overrated, but he'll bring in a much better package.
