Braves trade Ender Inciarte and Christian Bethancourt

Padres trade Austin Hedges, Rymer Liriano, and Jacob Nix.

Braves just picked up Tyler Flowers, who is one of the best pitch framers in the game. why would they give up Inciarte?

They are pretty high on Mallex Smith who they think could be up soon and starting in CF. Hart has been really high on Hedges for awhile. They would get a young OFer in Liriano who has a similar build to Soler. A young great defensive catcher. Flowers was also DFA'd if that's telling.

Flowers wasn't DFA'd, he wasn't tendered a contract. Enormous difference.

As for Inciarte, he's an incredibly valuable player. he was a conciliatory player because the Braves couldn't get Pollock, but he's still a top notch outfielder.

Hedges is a younger version of Tyler Flowers: great defense, average bat. The Padres would have to give up significantly more to get Inciarte.

You're talking 2-3 times worse than any return they gave up last winter.

For perspective: Inciarte is 25 and was almost a top 20 outfielder in the game last year.

He's not going to get moved for less than a team's best possible return.

This would make no sense for Atlanta, and little for San Diego.

It'd make a ton of sense for San Diego.

In fact, if this were even possible for the Padres to pull off, and Preller didn't pull the trigger, he should be fired.

It won't happen though.

This is not a good proposal. Atlanta would not even consider that.
