Plan to Upgrade the Angels without going over the luxury tax threshold:

Trade 1: Angels Get: Devon Travis/ Alex Meyer
Blue Jays Get: Jose Berrios
Twins Get: Huston Street

The Angels get a long term 2B who would would lead off when he gets back healthy and would look good next to Simmons up the middle for years to come.
The Blue Jays get a potential top of the rotation piece. Imagine Stroman, Berrios, and Sanchez for the foreseeable future with that offense.
The Twins get a legitimite closer with 3 years of control. This looks like a bargain compared to other closers with 3 years of control left (Kimbrel, Miller - what the Yankees were looking for)

Trade 2: Hector Santiago for Carter Capps

The Angels get a low cost closer to replace Street.
The Marlins bolster their rotation.

Now the Angels would have about $18 million under the luxury tax threshold.

In this current market, they could probably get Upton for 5yrs/ 90mil.

While I think it's too favorable for one team (the Angels), I admire the creativity and rationale of the Devon Travis trade. It's one of the few posts that's not completely inane or being a grating homer. Good job.

The Capps trade seems alright.

Not bad.

The Twins would be dumb to make that trade, but as an Angels fan I would like these to happen.

twins will NOT trade berrios unless it is a huge haul - street is not that.

Blue Jays get screwed in the first trade.

In your first trade MIN is getting screwed. A above average closer for a top notch prospect? MIN wouldn't give up Berrios for Ken Giles.

so nobody realizes that Glen Perkins is a person.

Street is not worth Berrios.
