imagine to possibilty of the angels having bryce harper and clayton kershaw playing for the angels with mike trout

dont say it won't happen cause it could, these 3 players can win games for the team as most of the higher contracts would be off the books with the exception of:

pujols.27.00 / 28.00 / 29.00 / 30.00
simmons.11.00 / 13.00 / 15.00
trout.33.25 / 33.25 / 33.25
calhoun. arbitration yr 3
richards. arbitration yr 3

these 5 players would be under contract come 2018 and harper is a free agent (the nationals obviously would pay him, every team would) but the idea of him with trout would be awesome and also kershaw can opt out of his contract that offseason

so they can sign both to deals (since the luxury tax level will be higher)

harper 12 years $500,000,000 ($41.67 per yr)
kershaw 8 years $360,000,000 ($40.00 per yr)

so would it be cool to have harper and trout in the same outfield (could happen in 2018) and kershaw can stay in a los angeles team but to the angels and then 2 years later in 2020, extend trout.

U know there is this thing called the salary cap right.

If the luxury tax is even at $200, between the three, you're talking $117M a year for 3 guys. That leaves them $83M for the remaining 37 guys on the 40-man roster, plus any dead salary.

It would be utterly moronic to lock themselves into such a situation, especially considering you'd need way more than 3 people to be successful for 162 games.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and ignore what you said previously and say that this is not going to happen. Stick with MLB the show, you are probably really good at that game.

And Cullen, there isn't a salary cap in baseball.

It's okay to be condescending, but be right first.

There is no salary cap in major league baseball. Period.

While this post is asinine, it is infinitely more credible than your statement.

its a very very slim, highly unlikely chance it happens. Ever.

i know that. but how much did the royals team cost last season?

so take that into account that u can get 37 players for about $90 million. it could happen and even tho the quality of them players may not be all star level bt the entire mets pitching staff combined to make around $20 million starting pitching and figure another $20 million for the bullpen and then the other $60 million for with the rest of hitting and having trout and harper and kershaw alone could get 60 wins by themselves. it could happen but chances are very very very slim but harper and kershaw could be free agents in 2018.

I also forgot about Albert Pujols.

If the Angels pay for Kershaw + Harper on the open market, their 2019 payroll will be led with:

Harper- 42 (I'm rounding up)
Kershaw- 40
Trout- 34
Pujols - 28

That's $144M per year for 4 guys. Don't forget that Pujols makes more in 19, 20, and 21.

Through at least 2020 (when Trout is a FA), if they want to skirt the luxury tax that's $56M for THIRTY-FOUR roster spots.

It can be done if you have a really, really strong farm system, but the Angels don't.
