Bleacher Report reported that the Yankees and White Sox have expanded their Quintana talks to include David Robertson if Chicago is willing to eat some of his salty. It has also been reported that the Yankees are unwilling to include Torres or Frazier for Quintana. However, I still fell they can put together a good enough prospect package to get it done without including those two.

White Sox get Jorge Mateo, Blake Rutherford, Miguel Andujar, Rob Refsnyder, Chance Adams, and Dillon Tate

Yankees get Jose Quintana and David Robertson.

Quality > Quantity. Sox won't move Q unless they are getting multiple top prospects. Gleybar/ Fraizer would have to be the main piece followed by another top prospect and one to two lesser but nice prospects. Now add Robertson that adds to the price.

Mateo is ranked as the number 18 prospect in baseball by MLB. com right behind Gleyber Torres at 17 and Clint Frazier at 15. So he is right in the same category with them. He just doesn't get all the recognition Torres and Frazier do because Torres just tore up the Arizona Fall League and received the MVP and Frazier is in AAA knocking on the door. Rutherford was a first round pick in last year's draft that many thought would go in the top 5 but didn't because teams were worried about contract disputes. Tate was the number four overall pick in the draft the year before. Adams just had a breakout year and his stock is ok the rise. Andujar also impressed at the Arizona Fall League just not to the extent of Torres. Lastly, Refsnyder has hit at every level and could be a nice utility player for years to come. If that's not quality I don't know what is.

If Robertson is in the deal:
Pick 1: Torres, Fraizer
Pick 1: Rutherford, Mateo

Thats your headliner. The other pieces are debatable but that's the start.

Bwright0628, valid point about Mateo. But I don't know that Brian Cashman is going to say "wait rick, didn't you know Tate was a first round pick? " in the war room.

Having said that, I would take your deal. i'd just prefer Fraizer over Mateo.

Mateo gets plenty of attention. and not all great attention with off field issues and poor on field play during times this year. he is not in the same category as torres and fraizer simply because of his rank on mlb. com prospect watch. Let's look at the headliners the sox have gotten. Moncada and Giolito. Both prospects who have incredibly high ceilings. which means fraizer or torres would have to headline because their ceilings are higher than say Mateos. They could be a true organization changers. Then followed with one of them by Rutherford. Andujar is a risky power prospect but has decent potential, and i think people realize tate is destined for the pen which isn't a bad thing but his value isn't as high as a former high first round pick should be. Adams is a nice piece and should be involved.

bwright-thank god someone with some sense to evaluate trade options. Your package is more than fair. The problem with all these Sox fans is that they robbed Wash in the Eaton trade-which longtime GM Jim Bowden stated as "worst trade" he's ever seen. They are now expecting a windfall every transaction. Even an mlbtraderumors. com poll has Eaton trade as most questionable transaction so far. Frazier and Torres are untouchable. If Sox insist-take a hike. Last year Yanks won 84 games with 12th in runs scored and 7th ERA. They should score more runs-nothing from ARod and Tex. The only pitching loss was Nova. Try the kids-Severino, Mitchell, Cessa, Green. If they fail call KC at deadline and try for Duffy or Ventura-they might be ready for fire sale by then. DO NOT GIVE IN TO SOX OUTRAGEOUS DEMANDS! Your offer is fair-take it or leave it.

I think that your package might get it done. The White Sox will want simply to get rid of Robertson's salary; a prospect or two for him would be a bonus.

i didn't say it wasn't fair. it is not a bad offer. just going to have to blow the white sox away to get a deal done.
