Win-win deal.

Both the Yankees and Nationals are looking good this year, but each has holes to fill.

New York sends OF Brett Gardner to the Nationals. Gardy can play CF and replace some of the stats from the absence of Adam Eaton. If it works out, he could slide to LF next year.

Washington sends Gio Gonzalez to the Yanks. NY needs help in the rotation. The Nats have depth with guys such as Cole and Fedde in the minors, or could look to bring in Doug Fister.

Gio has been lights out this year. I imagine WSH would ask for another piece or two.
