Can I just start by laughing about how Yankees fans were sure they had Ohtani?

Other than that, I think these are pretty decent and seem reasonable. Good work.

I am going to say this, Yankee fans thought the Yankees would get Ohtani because everyone else (writers, analyst, front office personnel, etc) all thought the same, so you really can't bash Yankee fans for assuming this when everyone else thought the same.

There's one thing to be think, "oh, hey, people say we have a chance. " But that's not what Yankees fans did.

They brazenly slotted him onto their team. I know multiple, I repeat, multiple Yankee fans who made customized Ohtani jerseys. MLBTR, Fangraphs, Bleacher Report, ESPN. Their comment boards are chock-full of Yankee fans who got into flame wars because they KNEW Ohtani was going to be a Yankee.

So yes, I can bash them. It's not a generalization, but it's certainly a very loud group of people who made a laughing stock out of Yankee fans.

No one actually knew what Ohtani was looking for. This is why we don't read much into the Hot Stove until we actually have a cooked product.

well that part is true, some people went overboard with that. but it may not have happened if no one thought they weren't the favorites. Now they all are probably disappointed they aren't get Matain either.
