Uh, no. The Red Sox want either prospects or a top tier pitcher for Cespedes. Dickey, Thole, and Nolin is not a fair return.

Um, he's a free agent next year and is said to be looking to test the market. They will not get that from anyone for one year of his service. So, good luck to you and them on that one.

When they trade Cespedes it will bring in a good pitcher because it won't be Cespedes alone going the other way.

JayDay, your proposal is asinine. So what if Cespedes has only one year left on his deal? The Sox will get a decent haul for him if they deal Cespedes. A team will look to acquire him, sign him to a long-term deal, and take the draft pick if they cannot. It happens each year.

If he's packaged off or agrees to a long term deal with the team acquiring him then ya, sure you'll get more. Only having one year left definitely has an impact on the return you'll get back and so does the fact that teams know you're looking to move him, let's not kid ourselves. And fine don't move him but somebody will have to be moved cause their isn't enough field for all the outfielders they have, if they do in fact move Hanley to LF and considering that it appears they are in win mode with the moves they've made so far this offseason, a draft pick would be an insufficient return but hey to each their own. And to @FearTheBeards that was one of the most pointless comments lol good one!
