pretty big trade
Reds trade: Cueto
Royals trade: Brandon Finnegan, John Lamb, Cody reed
Who got the better of this deal? I'm leaning towards KC because even though they're the best team in the AL now they're the best in baseball

KC certainly put all their chips in a guy like Cueto, who, albeit a small sample size, has not shown he can come through in the playoffs.

Plus, Cincinnati ought to be sure at least one of those guys could be very, very crucial down the road. Finnegan could very well take over for Chapman.

Cincinnati won that trade, easily.

I wouldn't go as far to say the Royals are the best team in baseball now. Even with Cueto they still need starting pitching. With Ventura struggling and in AAA and Vargas now done for the year, even with Cueto now they still need pitching. Cueto was in fact a great addition to a team with great offense and bullpen. This trade though was great for the rebuilding of the Reds. Finnegan will go to AAA and start transitioning to be a starter. Lamb and Reed look to have a lot of promise and are both having great years so far. Big win for the Reds

How can you say that Cincinatti won the trade easily? Although it was a solid haul this moves gives KC a legit TOR and an even greater chance of winning a World Series. I think it was a trade that makes sense for both teams and fairly equal.

Consider the following:

The Royals have struggled all year with starting pitching. So they trade for Cueto, but Cueto is a rental, and KC has virtually no shot at re-signing him AND keep their core together. This means, they will lose not only Cueto, but they won't have 3 potential pieces for the future.

And what's worse, they can't offer Cueto a QO, since he wasn't on their team all year long.

The Royals have to win it all to make this trade worth their while, otherwise, they lose Cueto AND their three prospects, and get nothing in return.

Yeah, the Royals didn't win this trade.

Ventura came back and dominated he looked like the old Ventura. Short term KC easily won, Long term I agree reds win I think finnegan will be a stud and cueto won't come back next year
