Cutting down on the money being swapped for a player trading only model such as those other sports use.

No because baseball has higher payrolls than other sports. And there is a bigger diversity among teams payrolls. How would you expect a smaller market team to afford an expensive player without a large amount of cash going there way.

With the play offs upon us, I was just wondering whether they are still worth having? Only the league is coming up with all these ideas to try and make the MLB more attractive to viewers etc, when really the only thing that is attractive are the play offs themselves. Because the run up to them only matter about qualifying for the play offs. Perhaps it might be time to look at soccer and the most successful league worldwide, the English Premier League. They don't have play offs, it is just all about the league itself.
Could that help baseball? I don't know, but clearly something needs to be done to improve the product as it is struggling to maintain relevance and will soon be overtaken by basketball if it is not careful!
