Phillies trade Ryan Howard ( 25 million ) and Cody asche
To the Yankees for mark texiera (22 million ) brett Gardner
Phillies pay all of Howards contract for 3 more years which equals 75.50 million.

Ryan Howard's contract is up after this year so I don't think they need to pay that much at all. Also, the Phillies are set up right now with zero money on the books for 2018, I don't think they want to change that. Trading Howard would only happen for the younger guys to get playing time, not to bring in another old guy plus an outfielder, a position the Phillies already have plenty of.

I think the Yankees would rather keep Teixeria for the last year of his contract. Plus the Yankees want young pitching for Gardner.

Howard and Asche are more liability than asset at this stage in their career. I don't see how they would help NY
that much.

Howard to the Orioles for a can of tuna makes sense.
Asche to the Indians for a prospect does too.

This is a joke.
