Cubs make one more move:

Claim Danial Nava off waivers from the Angels.

I feel like he could be a good mentor to the younger players as well as someone who can play the corner outfeild spots as well as 1st and DH.

They could either DFA Patton or DFA Wood. Both of wich I think will happen either way if this deal happens.

Since they need to clear a spot for Joe Smith on the active roster and Wood doesn't have any options left I don't think so he would be expendable with both Montgomrey and Chapman as the Lefty relievers and then Patton is the one that should go to make room for Nava if that deal happens.

Nava with Maddon would be a good fit I think.

Nava, really Sull? The Cubs don't need more additions they are fine with what they have done. And why DFA Wood? He's been good 2.70 ERA, a very useful piece of the pen.

Fine then DFA Nathan, or someone else to make room. I just think Nava would be a good fit.

They just brought up Nathan. They don't need Nava, stop fanboying over the journeyman outfielder Sull.

Nava might be an okay bench option but no way the Cubs DFA Wood to take a chance on him. But don't forget he hit over .300 in 2013. He's an okay guy to take a chance on, just not to get rid of Wood.
