There have been rumors that the Marlins are interested in Aroldis Chapman
Reds trade: Chapman
Marlins trade: Christian Yellich
Reds get a gold glove left fielder who can get on base and the Marlins get one of the best closers in the game.
1.) Marlins are trading Yelich, they are trying to extend him.
2.) 10 Dec 2014 17:52:42
Marlins wouldn't give up a guy like Yelich for a closer.
3.) The Reds wouldn't give up one of the most dominant closers in the game for a guy that hasn't proven himself.

Reds and Nationals trade
Reds get Denard Span
Nationals get Mike Leake
Span can play left field for the Reds. He got on base at a 355 clip last year which is exactly what the Reds want. The Nationals get a guy who can eat innings. And they would boast one the best rotations in baseball. Both players are in their walk years.
1.) While I agree that Span could play LF, I don't see this trade happening due to the finances. Trading Leake for Span would be a wash as far as payroll goes and I don't think that what the Reds are looking for
2.) Also Span led the league in hits I don't think they will trade him for a year of leake

Miami and Cincinnati
Miami trades Christian Yelich
Cincinnati trades Mike Leake , Jesse Winker, and a PTBNL
The last thing the Marlins want to do is trade Yelich. But if the Reds can give them a top prospect and a reliable starter they might be willing to part with him. And Yelich is a perfect fit for the reds. He is a gold glove left fielder who can get on base.

Houston and Cincinnati trade
Cincinnati gets Dexter Fowler
Houston gets Mike Leake
There hasn't been anyone saying that the Astros are willing to trade Fowler but this trade would benefit both teams. Fowler got on base last year at a .370 clip and that's what the reds want. The Astros need pitching and mike Leake has been consistently good for a few years now.
1.) With Hamilton in CF, the Reds need a corner OF.
2.) They need a Left Fielder not a right fielder
3.) I think there could be something here. Fowler is more than capable of playing LF and this would probably lop $4-5M off the Reds payroll (assuming the projected arb salaries are anywhere close)
4.) 10 Nov 2014 13:38:06
Fowler and Hamilton at the top of the order would be great table setters for Votto, Phillips, and Bruce. And like TarheelRed said, Fowler is very capable of playing left field.

Reds and Rockies trade
Reds trade Latos and Winker
Rockies trade Cargo and kick in some cash
Cargo is a question mark with all of his injuries. If he can return fully healthy this will be a steal for the reds. Winker is a great prospect that could start right away for the Rockies in left field, but he would be better of spending another year in the minors. And Rockies need pitching more than anything else. Latos has had a better career at GABP then he had at Petco so he should have no problem transitioning to the Rocky Mountain air.
1.) I would LOVE to see CarGo in a Reds uniform, but I just don't think they can afford him. Even trading Latos (and his projected $8.5M salary) would not provide enough payroll space to add CarGo. However, if the Rockies would consider a package including Homer Bailey a trade could be made. Something like Bailey and OF Yorman Rodriguez for CarGo and a prospect could work for both teams.
2.) The Reds have little to no financial flexibility. If they declined Cueto's option, I could see them going after a guy like CarGo. but they don't have a ton of cash lying around.

What would it take for the marlins to trade Christian yelich to the reds?
1.) How about Billy Hamilton and Matt Latos with a few more going the Reds way. But in reality Marlins won't trade a cost efficient player.
2.) 11 Nov 2014 18:15:22
Turn Yelich's potential rating up to a 99 on MLB The Show. I'm sure that would do the trick.
Braves are getting way too much. Upton only has one year left on his contract.
