How can Red Sox NOT be involved for Jose Fernandez? They can lock things up like this:
Red Sox trade:
Rusney Castillo
Eduardo Rodriguez,
Matt Barnes
Yoan Moncada
Edwin Escobar
&
Devon Marrero
to
Miami
for
Fernandez and Ozuna.

The Red Sox wouldn't want to trade all of that for Fernandez, they can just go out and sign someone like Mike Leake for way cheaper.

2.) 08 Dec 2015 19:59:48
I agree why empty our farm system for 2 guys who we could find people to fill those spots in free agency and still have all those prospects.

3.) 08 Dec 2015 20:10:56
Guys, "prospects" are like stocks. Some are good, some BOMB! This is a "get" of a proven superstar pitcher (who by the way is BETTER than the guy we just gave $31 million a year to) who we'll have 3 VERY Controllable years of. With Price, Fernandez, Owens, Porcello, etc, we'll be sitting pretty. Aren't you tired of seeing these 30+ yr old pitchers getting THIS CRAZY money for roughly 3 good years?

4.) 08 Dec 2015 23:55:22
Nyy15 please tell me how a guy who is going to make about 15-20M is cheaper than a guy projected to make 2.2M via arbitration. Sull I don't know how many times I have to tell you, if you have guys making a ton of money per year the prospects will never be able to get consistent playing time!

Let's go add another pitcher worth another 20 million because why the hell not we're the Red Sox just stop. And high key don't like any of the Red Sox prospects hope they end up failing in Boston but succeed in another organization.

5.) 08 Dec 2015 21:47:22
It's funny, people claim that prospects are like stocks and some fail when they want to give up said players, all the while, they treat them like they are no-doubt, can't miss future superstars.

With the Dodgers losing Grienke, how about:
Mets send Harvey, Lagares and Nimmo
to
Dodgers for Cory Seager and Joc Pederson.

MGR

1.) 05 Dec 2015 04:40:27
Dodgers weren't willing to move Seager for Hamels last year, they most certainly won't for Harvey.

2.) 05 Dec 2015 14:45:47
This would be a knee jerk reaction MGR. The Mets would want more in return for Harvey such as Urias and De Leon. Which they won't trade.

3.) 05 Dec 2015 16:13:26
The Dodgers really like their two young players. It would take a lot to get them.

Mets trade Matt harvey and Lucas duda to Arizona for Goldy? Any shot?

Mets then sign colon for 1 year 7 mil.

Pretty sure Arizona wouldn't trade Goldy but.

MGR

1.) 22 Nov 2015 23:25:19
The D-Backs would at least have to consider that, but I don't think so.

2.) 23 Nov 2015 03:28:16
deGrom and Wheeler would be the minimum to even start the conversation. Goldy has one of the best contracts in baseball and pitchers are less valuable because of injury risk.

Red Sox obtain Jose Fernandez from Marlins for:
Yoan Moncada
Rusney Castillo
&
Eduardo Rodriguez.

MGR

1.) 22 Nov 2015 08:27:27
That might do it.

2.) 22 Nov 2015 13:29:30
I love this as a huge soxs fan but even tho this would be great for our rotation as we get our young ace to bolster the rotation for years and years to come but we lose our #1 and #2 prospects and a great pitcher with huge upside

I'd like to see something like this

Redsoxs :
Jose Fernandez
Marlins:
Eduardo Rodriguez
Hanley Ramirez
Devin marrero
Brian Johnston

By giving up Hanley gives us some money room to sign Chris Davis, Hanley will also filing the Marlins need for another bat in the lineup to protect Stanton and Gordon let me know what you guys think but this is just my pure opinion I could be totally wrong on what we need tho!

3.) 22 Nov 2015 13:56:02
MGR, the trade is horrible. The would want more. GotBeard13, that trade is even worse. Marlins wouldn't want that bum Hanley back.

4.) 22 Nov 2015 15:20:48
I think MGR's original proposal would likely get the job done, but as a Sox fan, I would not want it.

GotBeard, our team made a stupid-ass decision to sign two overrated, fat, oft-injured, defense-challenged hitters who are sucking the team's payroll dry. They cost Cherington his job, rightfully so. There is no chance Miami wants the pile of dung known as HanRam back.

5.) 22 Nov 2015 17:17:31
Fair enough , question to all of you since DP is getting older and is injury prone in Boston a tad, even tho he is always great for us , do u think there is any chance they move him in the next couple of years to pick up prospects or maybe a huge blockbuster involving him?

Mets send: Harvey, Degrom, Syndergaard, Matz and Wheeler to ANYONE for $10 Million dollars. The damn Wilpons would jump all over that! PLEASE SELL TEAM!

This could work but Bauer would be more even.

That is a lot to give up for 1 year of a slightly above average starter.
