Mariners get: Jay Bruce, 7.5 million USD, Kyle Waldrop

Reds get: Seth Smith, Tyler O'Niel, D. J Peterson

*Would happen more into the season

SEA's problem has been offense and Bruce can help solve the problem. Smith would have no place if Bruce came to SEA, so he goes to CIN. Like the Segura/ Hill deal, one team gets an upgraded player at a position while giving prospects and the "worse" player to the other team.

Why would the Reds accept this? its quite horrible.

2.) 16 Apr 2016 18:46:42
Cincy has given away assets (Frazier, Chapman, Leake) too cheaply lately. This would continue that pattern.

3.) 17 Apr 2016 05:53:06
I never thought it was possible to make the Reds worse, but alas someone did it.

You, sir, deserve a prize.

4.) 17 Apr 2016 20:53:03
The Reds have practically given away Todd Frazier, Aroldis Chapman and Mike Leake over the past year, so this would follow that trend.

5.) 21 Apr 2016 16:56:21
-Frazier wasn't as bad of a return as the media suggested. The Dodgers got Montas, who was hugely over-valued, and Thompson, who is a bench OF at his highest. Peraza is a fine 2B, as were the other pieces.

-Leake brought in Adam Duvall and Keury Mella. Duvall will do quite well for himself in Cincy, as will Mella.

-Chapman had no value whatsoever.

I don't get why people think the Reds were fleeced. They did just fine. Bruce will be traded for a great value as well.

6.) 22 Apr 2016 03:23:17
Chapman had no value? Best closer in baseball. We will have to agree to disagree on that.

As for Frazier, the Reds should have gotten more.

7.) 22 Apr 2016 07:22:40
Value is measured in many variables and contexts.

For Chapman, his impending suspension wasn't known at the time of the trade. So trading for a guy who may not have played much was a crap shoot. Not to mention the bad PR it could have led to had it been worse.

Chapman's a great closer. But his situation made him almost completely without value. Reds got lucky to get anything more than a compensation pick for him.

If the Mariners don't contend by the all star break, they need to rebuild again. Trading anyone with value would make sense.

If TB is a potentially in the wild card race:
TB gets: Nelson Cruz + 10 million dollars
SEA gets: Blake Snell, Garret Whitley, Andrew Belllatti
Snell is a SEA native, good pitcher. TB has a great rotation and I think that Cruz would "boom" their offense in a similar way Tulo did midway in the season last season.

SF gets: Joaquin Benoit
SEA gets: Kyle Crick, Jake Smith

BOS gets: Adam Lind, 5 million dollars
SEA gets: Sam Travis, Pat Light

These trades are only IF they can't contend.

I think the Rays would need more than 10 million from the Mariners in what's left of Cruz's contract. Plus the Rays aren't trading Snell. The other 2 trades are terrible. Plus where will Lind play on the Red Sox?

2.) 12 Apr 2016 15:02:42
Giants don't have too much need for Benoit. He's almost an identical version of Santiago Casilla, except 3 years older.

I don't think Kyle Crick could bring much back in any trade, but they could do better than an almost 40-year-old reliever, or better yet, just keep him and try him out as a reliever/ back-end starter.

And the Adam Lind trade is awful. Absolutely terrible. Lind has significantly more value than that.

3.) 12 Apr 2016 15:07:02
Why would the Red Sox trade either of those guys? Travis will be in the bigs soon, he will be a key part of the team soon. And Light is highly regarded pitcher and won't be traded anywhere, especially with Koji most likely leaving next year it opens a spot for him most likely.

4.) 02 May 2016 00:03:31
The Giants trade is terrible.

TEX and MIL having been playing tug of war w/ Lucroy. I doubt that TEX and MIL will eventually work out a deal. With Chinorios out for a significant amount of time, I think that TEX seriously needs to consider other options. Guys like Steven Vogt and Derek Norris are somewhat decent catchers playing of somewhat bad teams.

Athletics get: Dillion Tate, Patrick Kivlehan, Andrew Faulkner

Rangers get: Steven Voght, PTBNL

Although it is a divison trade, Billy Beane should realize he has no chance of competing in a division w/ HOU and TEX plus maybe even SEA.

Stephen Vogt will cost significantly more than that.

He's going to another division team, and he's being traded mid-season.

2.) 10 Apr 2016 15:09:43
I think that's an okay proposal. Vogt is okay, and that's a decent return.

Jays receive
Julio Teheran
Arodys Vizcaino

Braves get
Connor Greene
Sean Reid Foley
Max Pentecost
Rowdy Teliz.

Those four wouldn't net Teheran alone. Need more, bro.

What do you guys think of the M's. Aging old guys who obviously can't contend this year. Should they rebuild by selling guys like Cruz, Seager, e. t. c?

Stromantroopers

1.) 12 Apr 2016 15:05:37
It's been 7-8 games into the season. They'll be fine.

Does any other sport over-react in the first week as much as baseball? Wow.

2.) 12 Apr 2016 15:10:48
1st of all, Seager isn't that old. If you want to sell old guys, your on the right track with Cruz but what about Iwakuma, Bennoit, Lee (sort of) but definitely not Seager.

3.) 12 Apr 2016 15:44:21
I think basketball over reacts fast too. I mean a few years ago the Lakers fired their coach 5 games into the season.

4.) 12 Apr 2016 21:51:59
And if we're in the mode of over-reaction, let's be equal.

Blue Jays are only a game better, and have the same average age (both are 28.7 average age) .

Let's break them up, also.

5.) 13 Apr 2016 12:41:13
I think its the second week of the season and its way to early to panic.
