Rangers
Mazara- OF (3 years arb left)
Leclerc- RP (4 years left)

Rockies
Welker- 3B (21)
Pint- RHP (21)
Vilade- SS (19)
Tapia- CF (24)

The Rockies need more offense in the outfield, and Mazara comes with 3 years still left before he hits free agency. He has been consistent, hitting 20 hr each year he has been in the league, but he has also not lived up to the standards set for him. A change of scenery to the hitters paradise in Denver should help him greatly. Leclerc is a rising top reliever and is very cheap and controllable.

He boosts the already good Rockies bullpen. The Rangers get back two very good infield prospects, which is where they need depth in their organization. They also get back Pint, a high risk high reward guy, and Tapia to use as a fourth outfielder in the present.

This package would probably get one of those guys, definitely not both.

2.) 11 Dec 2018 03:23:56
I was being pretty conservative but I wanted to add another guy. Who would you add?

3.) 11 Dec 2018 04:02:39
To get both Leclerc and Mazara (who are both under team control for several more years)?

Give the Rangers Brendan Rodgers, Colton Welker, and Riley Pint and call it a day.

Indians
Kluber- RHP (3 years left)

Cardinals
O’Neill- OF (23)
Hudson- RHP (24)
Arozarena- OF (23)
Carlson- OF (20)

Cardinals need a top of the rotation guy and the Indians need a few outfielders (O’Neill will help in the present) . Indians also get a pretty good pitching prospect in Hudson.

Indians
Kipnis- 2B (2 years left)
Mercado- OF (23)
Anderson- RP (3 years arb left)

Dodgers
Verdugo- OF (22)
Rios- 1B/ 3B (24)

This one is probably a little heavy on what the Dodgers are sending back but they get a veteran second baseman who I don’t think is quite done yet but needs a change of scenery, and a pretty good back end reliever. Indians get Rios who has nowhere to play in LA and is being blocked (could play OF in CLE) and Dodgers top prospect and a needed outfielder who they could call up immediately.

Why would the Dodgers trade Alex Verdugo (who they've pretty much treated as untouchable to this point) for a 2B, when there's about a half dozen, maybe a full dozen of options that are better and only cost money?

And Cody Anderson has pitched three innings at any level of baseball since his injury 2016. The Indians might not even tender him a contract.

It's not a good trade for LA in any sense.

The first one is probably close to fair for Kluber, but I think the Cardinals would need one better prospect in there somewhere.

2.) 19 Nov 2018 00:23:41
Yah probably should’ve done more research on the LA trade because I didn’t know that about Anderson. Anyway, how would you change that trade?

3.) 19 Nov 2018 05:04:33
Take out the following players and you have a decent trade: Verdugo, Rios, Kipnis, Anderson, Mercado.

If the Dodgers want an average-to-below-average 2B and a bad reliever, they could sign Josh Harrison and Blaine Boyer and keep their top 100 prospect.

What do you guys think about these trades? What needs to be changed?

Reds
Suarez- 3B (2 years left)
Iglesias- CL (3 years left)

Padres
Paddack- RHP (22)
Allen- LHP (21)
Reed- OF (23)
Weathers- LHP (18)

Giants
Bumgarner- SP (1 year left)
Strickland- RP (3 years arb left)

Braves
Ian Anderson- RHP (20)
Austin Riley- 3B (21)
Bryse Wilson- RHP (20)
Kolby Allard- LHP (21)

Giants
Bumgarner- SP (1 year left)
Smith- RP (1 year arb left)

Astros
Whitley- RHP (21)
Alvarez- OF (21)
Schroeder- RHP (18)

As a Giants fan, I like both of those. Prefer the Braves trade, but there's not a snowball's chance in hell the Braves accept that.

2.) 03 Nov 2018 05:36:52
Yah, the Braves trade is a little heavy, and it would also be tough to pry Anderson and Whitley away from their respective teams. However, Smith is much better than Strickland, and the Astros are in more of a win now mode than the Braves, so I think that trade is a little more realistic.

3.) 03 Nov 2018 14:46:10
The Giants would take that Braves trade without one of Allard or Anderson, in my opinion.

4.) 05 Nov 2018 13:51:18
Can you imagine a top 3 of Verlander, Bumgarner and Cole? Yeesh! And that's without considering bringing back Keuchel and Morton.

5.) 05 Nov 2018 16:16:10
I'd bet my house that Bumgarner, if traded, returns to the Giants after one season somewhere else.

He would know as much as anyone that being traded and returning only helps the team in the long-run.

6.) 06 Nov 2018 06:15:16
Suarez is signed to a 7 year deal for a very cheap 66 million. He is worth a ton.

7.) 07 Nov 2018 19:39:16
Stat, I would have said the same thing about Lester back with the Sox, but we know how that worked out. There really is no predicting that kind of stuff.

8.) 09 Nov 2018 00:35:29
From comments made by Bumgarner, it seems he doesn't even want to be traded. Rumor has it, his no-trade list includes the teams that would want him the most.

I can imagine that if he does agree to a trade, he'll work hard to return.

So this post is a little different.

What kind of names do you like for an expansion team in Portland? My top three are the Grizzlies, Pioneers, and Orcas.

Also, what are some names you like for expansion teams in Mexico City, Vancouver, Nashville, and Charlotte?

Good question. I personally like Orcas, but it'd be better if they were the Oregon Orcas.

I'll offer mine.

-Portland Pines (Something to do with forestry)

-Mexico City Palacios (Mexico City is the city of Palaces)

-Vancouver Storm (for all the rain)

-Nashville Notes (or just steal "Sound" from their AAA team there)

-Charlotte Kings (It's the "Queen City" but I can't imagine they'd name a sports team the Queens)

2.) 03 Dec 2018 21:33:24
All good ones. I was reading something somewhere when somebody suggested the Portland Pioneers and explained the dual meaning with the Oregon Trail pioneers and also technological pioneers. Sounded like that name had deep roots.
I really like the Vancouver Storm though that’s a good one.

3.) 07 Dec 2018 14:53:26
Portland could have a lot of good ones. I like the Pines. Along the same lines, you could go with Lumberjacks or Axes or something, although that kind of sounds like a minor league team. You could also go with something to reflect the Rose City nickname.

I like Orcas a lot, but would actually like that more for Vancouver. You could steal the look of the logo from the Canucks a few years back. You probably wouldn't want to do Storm because of the Seattle WNBA team. Not that you couldn't use the same name, it's just a bit close.

Mexico City would be a lot of fun. I like Mexico City Revenge, but I feel like that's more of an NBA style name than MLB. I'd also love them to use Quetzalcoatl just to make them the bane of announcers everywhere. You could also just do a Spanish version of a name like Diablos or Toros. I would also like Luchadores.

Nashville would have a lot of good ones. You could go with Sound or Notes to go with the music scene. You could go with the Heat due to the famous Hot Chicken. Hickory because of Andrew Jackson. Pioneers due to Boone and Crockett. Another one would be the Nashville Way. It was a phrase coined to represent the good race relations in Nashville during the Civil Rights movement.

4.) 07 Dec 2018 18:41:19
I have a really good feeling that MLB would be uncomfortable having a team named after Andrew Jackson. Just a hunch.
