I don't think Boston makes that trade within their division, and I don't think you need to give Rosario a 2-year deal. He's nothing more than a DH.

I could see Kris Bryant making sense for the Jays, however.

But I could also see them getting in on Bauer.

2.) 12 Jan 2021 14:59:09
Why would the Blue Jays, or any team, give Brad Hand 22M and a three-year commitment when they could have had him for less than 10 on a 1-year deal?

3.) 12 Jan 2021 16:02:01
@natedog less money per, especially when you look at hendricks deal, the next best reliever will want more than a 1yr contract.

4.) 12 Jan 2021 16:23:15
1 year deals at higher AAVs are always more preferential to teams than long-term deals at slightly less AAV.

I guess you could argue that it was too early to make that type of commitment with Brad Hand, and that things changed now. But I think there was something teams saw in Hand that probably made them not want to drop that kind of money.

Until I see that contract, I won't believe he's getting it.

Oh look, a 1-year deal for Brad Hand.

Alejandro Kirk is the 2020 version of Jeremy Hazelbaker. We'll all look back and think "wasn't that adorable? ".

The dude hit one home run and everyone thinks we should slot him into future lineups as a main player. I'd temper your expectations, quite a bit.

Diamondbacks could use a top end middle infielder with a good bat if they wanna go above and beyond.

To Ari: Troy Tulowitzki
To Tor: Archie Bradley, Domingo Leyba/ Brandon Drury, Daniel Hudson.

DBacks don't have the money to even entertain the idea.

26 Nov 2015 12:39:14
To Tor: Matt Kemp, Tyson Ross
To SD: Troy Tulowitzki, Dalton Pompey

THIS IS A BASE DEAL. I get that there is a possibility of lower level prospects evening it out, but value wise how is it?
Toronto gets an impact arm they direly need and get back a bad contract but gave one away as well, and seeing as kemp still has a good bat, he could definetly DH or play left and still get impact from him
San Diego gets an elite shortstop that they direly need and do so in losing a bad contract as well instead of just signing Desmond and keeping kemp. They also add a potential lead off hitter in a top 50 prospect and can move Myers to left field
I know this is unlikely but thoughts on value, reasoning etc?

Good trade but don't think it works for the Jays. They don't really need another outfielder and they need more speed/contact hitters. I don't really know a lot about Ross, but I'm pretty sure he's not an Ace and the Jays need an Ace type pitcher.

2.) 26 Nov 2015 13:58:13
I like the thought of sending Tulo home to his native California. Plus, SD needs a CF, and Pompey fits the bill. Ross definitely helps Toronto's rotation.

However, I think the Jays need to get more their way. If you consider Pompey for Ross to be about equal - and I do- then the deal becomes Tulo for Kemp. To be honest, I dislike both guys, as they both seem fragile.

So, toss in a bullpen arm such as Brandon Maurer and a prospect, and maybe it could get done.

3.) 26 Nov 2015 15:07:31
maybe jays would take a package built around shields and cashier +++ to get those to they need pitching more thwn fielder's and shields knows the AL east so maybe it worth a shot same kinda money

jays rotation be a lot better

stroman
shields
cashier
dickey
erstrada

with depth they have
Chavez
hutch
diamond.

4.) 26 Nov 2015 16:05:13
maybe add chavez to the deal so SD has pitching.

26 Oct 2015 13:45:10
To Tor: Stephen Strasburg
To Was: Ryan Goins/Devon Travis, Drew Hutchinson, Anthony Alford

Gives Toronto a front line starter and they can use the money that they would on price to sign a bullpen lefty+ mid level starter, and it also gives them more time+money to resign Strasburg after 2016 after dickey, encarnacion and Bautista come off the books.

Gives Washington a great young middle infielder (whichever one they choose) to replace Desmond, a struggling but talented young starter to learn under scherzer who could raise his ceiling to a 3 starter and an above average outfield prospect.

Woods

1.) 26 Oct 2015 15:12:57
Good trade idea. My only question is, will Toronto want to give up more young assets for a year-long rental?

2.) 26 Oct 2015 16:05:57
Definitely Nate, they were so close this year. They won't want to pass this chance up.

3.) 27 Oct 2015 14:28:46
Instead of Alford, replace him with pompey.

4.) 27 Oct 2015 17:35:14
I don't think the jays will trade Alford they believe he is a superstar they wouldn't put him in trades this year. and why go after a often injured pitcher. should ask for Scherzer.

To everyone thinking that Boston wants EE after this year, I highly doubt their analytics department would agree. EE is a guy who hits bombs at Rogers centre because the wall is close and low and he hits line drive home runs. His swing won't work well in Boston when he will need to get it over the green monster for home runs.

Woods

1.) 08 Dec 2015 16:54:42
Not sure where you're getting your information from, at all.

ESPN Home Run Tracker has Encarnacion as hitting more home runs at a higher apex (higher home runs) and elevation angles than any right-handed hitter in Boston.

Encarnacion would be just fine.

2.) 08 Dec 2015 20:00:47
If not a better fit in Boston than he is right now in Toronto.

I'm guessing heyward wants to play for a team that can compete for all years and not sign to a team that is in a total rebuild, makes 0 sense whatsoever.

A team I can see looking at tulo would be the Diamondbacks. Would be perfect behind pollock and goldschmidt and mentor Darby Swanson when he's ready to come into the league. A trade centred around either Bradley or Shipley with Leyba and a reliever would be very fair I believe.

@highlybiasedbosoxfan Saunders only played 73 games last year cause of his legs, I'm not talking about the freak injury, he's been injury prone before that injury which doesn't bode well on the turf field. Yes Saunders is faster, and is a tad better defensively, but Nava brings the component of giving nectar action a needed break at first and therefore giving pillar/Viciedo playing time to develop

@mntwinsfan: this is hypothetical if TOR didn't trade him to seattle
